I'm compiling a list of things dog owners do who are mannerless hogs:

1. I'm walking down the street with my two leashed dogs. A woman approaches also with two dogs, she crosses the street. One of her dogs slips its collar runs across the street and attacks my dog. She starts yelling at me in a very ugly voice to keep moving her dog hates white dogs. I yell at the dog NO, she gets her dog and without another word walks on.

2. My husband is out walking, a man is passing with a large black dog which jumps up on him knocking his ear phones and i-pod to the ground. The man walks on without a word.

3. I'm passing a house with my dogs, a woman comes out to get her newspaper, her Newfie bounds out behind her, runs at me, knocks me down, she picks up her paper and goes back in the house with her dog without a word.

I was walking my dog, stopped by my niehbor's, my dog laid down on his lawn...15 min later she said that she sprayed somthing on her lawn 20 min before my dog sat down and told me to get him off. I said sorry and picked him up. My dog had some grass on his chin..he has a long coat... and my neighbor old me that stuff was srong so I should bathe my dog so he wouldn't die!!

okay...yea, Im 16 and she is like 30 sumthing, but still...I shouldn't have been talked to liked that! she could have been more polite...

my dog was fine...I found the bottle and it was non toxic...however, all her grass died!! serves her right!

and, while we were at the park, another dog tried peeing on my puppy. I pulled the dogs apart and got pee on my shoes, all while the owner was turned around, on his cell. He got angry at me for touching his dog. I tried explaining to him what happened but he said something about me being mexican! Then his dog pooped a few trees ahead of us. He turned around, saw that I had a few bags with me and said 'Can you get that?' pointing to his dog's poo, he was still on his cell. I gave him a look, pointed to the dog sign,(it said clean up after your dog, we are not marry maids!) and walked away. He called me name and called my puppy a dumb mutt! I see him a couple of times at the park and just walk away from him... I feel sorry for my pup and his dog...they were getting along fine until the other had to pee...

Hey Stone! That's a great list - and I do know who Marty Robbins was! I totally agree with the items on your list - especially about Cream (a couple of my favorite Cream songs are sung by Jack Bruce), Brian May, Daltrey and Winwood. I honestly need to check out more of the Velvet Underground and Mott the Hoople. I also don't know much about Marc Bolan, but I'm intrigued about the giraffes in his hair! lol. We should add the awesomeness that is Ginger Baker!

I have a German Shepherd who has the best temperament and nature you could wish for. Everyone knows her in our small town of 1500 people. She loves everyone - kids, other dogs, you name it. But she is scared stiff of Jack Russells or any other little yappy dog. It seems that 95% of the people who live near us, and are much older (I'm trying to be polite here!) have those little dogs who just LOVE to attack my German Shepherd. They jump on her back, bite her, yap like crazy and she doesn't do a thing except cringe! And then I AM TOLD, "get your big dog off my little dog." Excuse me! Delilah has never attacked or jumped on any other dog - or cat for that matter. She loves to meet them at the park each day and they all run around like maniacs, playing, It's the owners who have the problem. But because of the reputation of German Shepherds, SHE gets the blame for everything.

My grandchildren pull and push her wherever they want her to go and she couldn't care less.

Ann's list is awesome!

I just want to add:

When people think their dogs should come and meet my dogs without asking permission. On numerous occassions people come bounding around the corner or across the street (usually dragged by their dog) to come have "play time" with my dogs. And they seem upset when one of my dog growls and snaps at theirs...my dog doesn't get along well with other dogs, so I keep him away from them on purpose. If you had asked "Can we meet your dog?" I would have been able to explain before you come running over putting your dog in a dangerous situation, my dog in a stressful situation, and me in a really pissed off mood.

I was walking my dog on a leash when we saw someone else with a dog not on a leash. That dog immediately attacked both me and my dog.

This has happened to me before, and I had pepper spray with me and sprayed the attacking dog.

The owners acted like I attacked the dog! I was bitten and BLEEDING and they blamed me and my dog. They were getting violent! I actually had to threaten THEM with the pepper spray!

AND!!!

There were other people around watching the whole thing and they did NOTHING!!!

I started screaming "FIRE" and someone called 911.

THE COP saved me.

So, I was attacked by a dog, my dog was mauled, I was nearly attacked by people, AND THERE WERE AT LEAST 30 WITNESSES!!! DOING NOTHING!

People suck!

Now I carry pepper spray for the dogs, and a bat to warn off people.

1. My girlfriend brought her dogs over to my house before our walk and I took her in back to show her my new waterfall/pond. (= very obviously expensive and beautiful landscaping). She let her dog jump in several times and just laughed as I struggled to pull her out. Short of being rude myself and asking her to discipline her dog, I was unsure what to do.

2. A medium to small sized man at my twins soccer game brings two ENORMOUS Great Danes to the game with him.

His dogs start to bark at my 50lb puppy and I ask him if it would be better to have them meet or to keep them at separate sides of the field...he thinks they should meet so I bring my dog up. His dogs immediately decide to try to eat my dog and the kicker is HE ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO CONTROL THEM. He is at an 10-11year old kids soccer game and he can't control his dogs because they are bigger and stronger than him!

3. My girlfriend and I (yeah, the one with the swimming dog) take our dogs to the dog park for a walk. It is a free dog park with little or no regulation so the walkers let the newbees know the etiquette. A man and his family come with a very agressive Newfie and they proceed to yell at us to keep away from them as their dog didn't like other dogs. We informed him that a family dog park wasn't a place for a dog that wasn't socialized. The family left with their dog only after calling us a bunch of filthy names.

3. The new neighbors on the corner move in and the first thing they do is let their Rottweiler out to run the neighborhood. We first came into contact with him in the pitch black while leaving for a party one evening. My blood ran cold to see the silouhette of a dog I didn't recognize from the neighborhood in the very clear shape of a large Rott.

The next day we realized he wasn't mean and put him in our back yard to play with our dog until the new neighbors came home so that he wouldn't get hurt or turned in...The new neighbors got home before we saw them pull in, came in our backyard and took their dog without saying a word to us.

Nice huh?

4. The mannerless dog owners never fail to get my attention by having a dog, or children, who follow their owner's example of lacking in manners.

The dogs, or children, are not abused, but they are neglected. Their owners, in their ignorance, have neglected to teach manners to their dogs, or children.

The owners, the dogs, and the children tend to spend their lonely lives not being welcomed on others properties or in others homes.

a lady brought her "unfriendly" dog into the store (unfriendly meaning did not like people approaching and would growl/lunge/snarl/snap right at people) unmuzzled.

and then, didnt warn people until they kind of said "can i say hi" and leaned in towards him and then she was like "oh uh yea hes scared", shortly before almost making skin contact with like 5 people.

i of course, being calm, steady, and unafraid, walked right up to him and the dog didnt even stutter.

but, he was a hazzard to everyone in the store and should have had a muzzle.

*******

let me not forget the time i was doing an evaluation (im a trainer) on an over-active, intact male beagle....and the woman proceeded to let (and i say let because it was an evaluation and i wasnt to the part of working with the dog) him hump my leg, tear at my shirt and pants, bite me, scratch up my arms, etc. she had him in a retractable lead, had a whole room to move around in, but instead let him just maul me. it was horrible...she had no control, nor any concern.

My dog was on the opposite side of the sidewalk from her,she came up to us. My dog is also very dog friendly and her dogs didnt look in any pain they looked like they wanted to play. She then told me it was a law that pit bulls ahd to be muzzled in public. (This isnt a law in my state and my dog is clearly not a pitbull (nothing agianst them )

I procceeded to tell, her she came up to me, she deciceded to walk her dogs on the sidewalk and my dog is very well behaved and is a brittany spaniel. She yelled and said my ugly pit mix shouldnt be allowed to live. This woman irritated me so much .
