Question:
My dog seems abnormally hungry!?

My female golden retriever seems abnormally hungry the last few days. An hour or so before feeding time (lunchtime and dinnertime) she is whining and when I get up she goes straight to her bowl, as if trying to tell me she wants her food.

She has been wormed, just a few weeks ago. She is a healthy dog and while she has always been a foodie, she has never reacted like this. This evening there was a plate of food on the coffee table and she just sat gazing at it and giving her paw to the table! She didn't and wouldn't ever steal food, but I am thinking her behaviour is very out of character!

If it persists, I would take the dog to the vet and check blood urine.

Attached link suggests some of the reasons for appetite increase including diabetes, cushings - and other things that go bump in the night. It shouldn't scare you - but its something to be mindful of.

I can't diagnose things, but maybe your dog has been active more and needs more food to maintain her weight. I'd ask your vet though, better safe than sorry.

your lucky your dog is so obediant, how she wont steal food and gives the table her paw. My dogs would just gulp it down but if you tell no when the try to they will just cower and run and hide. I would take her to the vet.
