Dogs eat a wide variety of things that we'd find frightening but most of it passes harmlessly through their system alright. Keep an eye on him for any signs of him feeling ill, and if he shows said signs, IMMEDIATELY take him to the veterinarian.

Until then, I wouldn't worry about it too much aside from keeping an eye on him. The wood might splinter or puncture him from within, like a chicken bone, but never underestimate the power of the canine digestive system!

It depends on how much wood your dog ate. I would think he should be fine. Dogs will go outside and eat sticks - which are wood. My dog has chewed and ate plenty of sticks in his time and he's been fine. Chances are he'll be fine.

Dogs and cats can eat many weird things. Your dog should be ok. If it tries to eat wood again try to stop it. If you notice that something is wrong with your dog you should contact the animal clinic or some one who knows what to do. But since your dog seems fine it shouldn't be any problem.

If the dog just started chewing the wood, she is probably teething. They grow thier adult teeth at 6mo. of age. The wood is probably harder than the toys and therefore feels better to chew on. It won't really harm her, but it could give her blockages or really painful stools if she eats too much. I would call a vet and see if there is something they recommend.

I'm doing basic obedience right now. My trainer hasn't once handled my dog. He has shown me how to handle my dog by using his own dog but that's about it. The reasoning is that I need to learn how to do these basic corrections and what not myself. Learn more https://tinyurl.im/l7duq

I have never considered sending my dog away for training. I guess I haven't found that much of a problem with him to even think about it.

Again, it may also have to do with the level of training you are looking for etc. No idea lol. I'm not a trainer. I think a first time dog owner needs to learn simple commands and how to handle their dog themselves as well.

As long as you see food going in the front end and out the back in a normal fashion, he is fine.

Take him to the vet if you see any digestive trouble out of either end, as it could be an obstruction, and that is an emergency problem. An obstruction in the gut can permanently damage part of the gut and kill the dog if not removed.

Shouldnt be bad at all. most dogs like to chew on wooden things for their teeth. There might be a very slight possiblity that the dog can get a splinter stuck in its esophagus or stomach.

I have a yorkshire terrier who is 4 pounds and she ate two wooden popsicle sticks and was fine. Dogs do really eat anything and everything.

Dogs like the flavor of wood to chew up, but they usually don't swallow much of it. If he did swallow enough to be concerned about, watch for signs of him gagging and trying to cough it up, or blood in his stool. If he's acting normal, don't worry about it.

If he's having trouble passing it through, call vet.

well if the wood splinters or is treated you have a problem.. call your vet and ask about an x-ray..they are generally not that expensive..or atleast see what they have to say..some dogs digest wood just fine but he is tiny...

Don't worry he'll be fine. My dog ate the corner of a wooden press when she was a puppy and she was fine.

He should be fine but if he starts to look like he is in any pain... take him to the vet...

And keep an eye on his poo... if you see anything that looks like blood... take him to the vet...

But dogs have cast iron stomachs... he has a 99% chance of being just fine...

My dog eats it every chance she gets. It won't her your dog at all. Just try to keep it away from her/him from now on.

my black lab eats stick all the freaking time, it helps clean her teeth. Trust me if your dog eats to much wood you will see it come back out of their mouth real fast :)

He will probably be okay. If he gets bloody stools, starts throwing up or acts lethargic get him to the vet immediately.

He is just compensating for the lack of fiber on his diet.

well its probably normal because he was probably was chewing on it and he accidentally swallowed it and its probably bad for him but my best advice for you is to go to the vets SOON.
