if you have to ask, then the answer is no! every dog deserves a person who loves them, they give you unconditional love,3 cats live at the same address i do,they let me stay because i can use the canopener and clean the litterbox.if i had my choice i would choose a dog every time, the cats were a few years old when the dogs arrived, they just had to get over it

The Wall Street Journal recently publicized studies that show the average lifetime cost of a dog is between $10,000 and $23,000. I think you should avoid buying a dog and save this money to use on human expenditures. After all, a dog is not as important to humans as humans. But, if you have unlimited funds, they by all means, purchase a dog.

Use www.petfinder.com to look for a dog that gets along with cats. Most rescue groups will have you fill out an application and have a home interview to find the perfect dog for you (and your kitty).

thank you for you answer. as for your question. i have three dogs a black lab, a dalmation, and what i call a miniture rotwiler. when my girlfreind moved in i expressly told her no cats. well she brought one home anyway. so we put up a baby gate a seperarated the house to give the cat a safe zone. we slowly brought the then kitten out and would sit in a chair holding the kitten and let the dogs know that they were to play nice with the kitty. let them sniff each other and keep reinforcing that all of them stay calm. as we started to bring the kitten out longer each time by the time the cat was big enough to jump the baby gate the dogs had understood that it was a welcome member of the family. we now have three cats and each one was intrduced to the dogs in the same way. with each cats it got easier to intriduce every body to each other. by the thrid one the dogs gave a sniff and went about their usual activities of laying around. animals tend to reflect their owner's emotions sort of (as per our youngest cats recent behavior that i asked about)but mostly if you stay calm then any dog with good up bringing behavior should also stay relitivly calm. i was so sure that it was a bad idea my dogs are older and had never been around cats other than to keep them out of the yard. that when my girlfriend asked me what we should name him i came up with "morsel" because that was all the biger he was and would have only made a morsel to my dogs. now we are best of friends me and my dogs and my girlfriend and her cats kind of like the "brady bunch" if you know what i mean. good luck
