One of my puppies (10 wk old border collie/husky mix) has a tear in the corner of his ear should I take himto a vet for possible repair ie stitches or is it OK to heal on its own? also I am wondering does this naturally happen or did his sister do it during one of their long lasting agressive play sessions, one or the other likes to bite util the other is screaming and I cant stop them and have tried

One of your puppies has a torn ear and you loose your time online instead of taking him to the vet?! Gods, woman, don't you hesitate! Poor thing must be in quite some pain! And no matter how small it is, you can't be sure that it won't get inflamed or something.

You NEED to see a vet!! NOW!! You can't "fix" it, a puppy is not a broken machine for all that's holy!! It suffers, it can get an infection, it can die!

Get it to the vet! Now!!

You should take him to the vet just in case. If ear tears are not stitched the dog will have a permanent notch in his ear. If the vet does not need to stitch it he may put eh dog on antibiotics to keep infection away and give him a cone and a big bandage.

I agree....TAKE IT TO A VET. People online can't diagnose your dog. If your ear was torn would you go to the doctor? Okay, same answer applies here. Puppies can't tell you when they are in pain. It is our responsibility to make sure they are comfortable all of the time.

if you just let it heal the dog will be fine. but if you must absolutely have your dog's ear be perfect then i guess you could go to the vet to get stiches. but puppies fight and play like that. eventually they will grow out of it.

I agree see if a vet can stitch but it has to be recent

I would go to the vet. If it doesn't heal properly, then you won't be able to fix it later.

i agree with 'ymmo' 100%, its nice to see some people have a brain on here, animals are not bloody machines, or material things that you own!, you cant 'fix' a puppies ear, it is not a toy!

My advice would be to let it heal.
