I live in an apartment where when i signed the lease dogs were not permitted, however saw several people with dogs and brought mine from my parents house. My neighbor just got a letter saying legal action will be taken against him for having his dog and he had his sister take his back. My parents are not willing to take him back and i really do not want to put any more stress on them.

I don't want to lose my dog, he is my first dog and i really do love him a lot even though he gives me a rough time and requires a lot of time and attention.

I need some advice, i was thinking of calling the land lady but with the recent actions taken against my neighbor i don't see that working out for me

The problem with units and apartments is that they are often controlled by a body corporate, or similar, who can set rules for the entire apartment block.

Even people who own their own apartment have to abide by the same rules.

If you have a dog in a building where you are not allowed to have pets then there really isn't much that you can do.

If you owned the place you could take it to court, but it would probably cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees with very little chance of success unless you actually NEED the dog and it is a certified therapy dog.

Seeing as you are renting? You don't have any options. You could talk to the landlord, but if other residents are getting in trouble for having pets then this is most likely an issue with the whole apartment block and not an individual landlord.

I have to be honest I really don't get this, not from you and not from anyone. You saw where the apartment didn't allow pets yet just because other people had their animals with them you thought it would be perfectly fine to bring your own? You couldn't see where this would go wrong? Just because other people are being irresponsible with their animals didn't mean it was alright for you to be as well. This is something we learn when we're children and the fact that you didn't listen to common sense doesn't bode well for your future as a dog owner. The only things you can do is either give your dog to a shelter/foster home/rescue what have you or try and get out of your lease and find a pet friendly apartment. I doubt that your landlord will let you keep the dog after you blatantly violated the rules to begin with.

You need to be prepared for the worst, it is a no dog building! Did anyone else get warnings about dogs? If not maybe there was an issue with your neighbors dog. Maybe it is a case of complaints about a single dog. I would not call the land lady, it's a no dog building, but dogs are there. Unless you get a notice don't ask don't tell is the best policy. You might want to start looking for a dog friendly building just to be on the safe side.

Try reasoning with the land lady. If you dog is well behaved, she may just bend the rules. Then again, you shouldn't have gotten a dog if you live in an apartment that clearly stated that they don't allow dogs. Move to a pet approved apartment. Problem solved.

The only options you have are to find an apartment that allows dogs, get a friend to keep the dog while you look for another apt or rehome the dog.

It was really irresponsible to bring your dog to an apt that doesn't allow dogs.

What can you do

1.get another house or apartment that allows dogs

2.tell the house owner if i get a dog i can pay you more rent

3.keep the dog outside and build him/her a house from wood

4.tell the house owner i will leave the dog in balkony i promise i won't take it inside

5.say if you dont let me have dogs i will move to another house.well if they said no don't move to another house but still is your choice

6.keep it in backyard

7.maybe ask a friend if it is a neighbour and you are good friends if they allow dogs tell them to keep my dog feed it and go play with your puppy/dog.

8.if you leave in a apartment that dosent allow dog you can look a webcite about finding houses find a good house that allows you have dogs and showit to your parents maybe you don't need to tell them that this house allow pets thats why i show it to you, well i would'nt do that.

9.just say please can i have a dog

10. If you are for it than lie that you dont have pets and whenever the houseowner came for a visit just hide it or put it in someones house

11.ask a friend to grow the dog for you and sometimes go visit it

Thank you for reading

12. Tell them iam getting a quiet puppy or i promise i wouldt make a mess and promise i will control him/her barking

Thank you sorry if some of them is stupid maybe it can help you :)

I have been in the same situation. I would recommend trying to keep your dog inside the apartment as much as you can, reduce as much visibility to others, and also keep an eye on his barking, i know they make products such as dog pee pads and bathroom stations. They have the right to take action as a landlord because you signed a lease which stated you will not own a dog on premises. Good luck

simple, you start finding pet-friendly apartments to move to.. problem solved.

You signed a lease that clearly said NO PETS.. you agreed to those terms. She is well within her rights to evict you over the dog.

My friend lives in apartment that doesn't allow animals. When she got one, they told

Her she had to pay more in her rent. The easiest thing to do is move to a apartment that allows animals.

What is with you people? Does "NO PETS" in your brain register as "Pets Welcome!"

Landlord rules no pets and you have to follow it or be homeless. Give up the dog or be homeless.
