My 5 year old lab/husky mix had puppies earlier today around 1 pm central time...3 passed away but 5 survived and are healthy....about 11 tonight she had 2 more...one was born dead but the one before her is still alive but not wanting to nurse and crying constantly like he's in severe pain...mama dog keeps pushing him away so I have taken him and warmed him and tried to give him replacement formula but he won't take it...just cries and cries and cries....i just gave him back to her and now she has her arms wrapped around him and won't let me near him...which is good but he's still just crying like he's in pain...any ideas for tonight...i WILL be taking him to the vet first thing in the morning!!

Try to help the puppy nurse and not get pushed away . It is prob hungry, it is better for the puppy to have mothers milk even if you have to help

More than any thing the puppy needs the nursing to feel better.

You left it a long time before the final two puppies arrived. The norm is not to allow a b itch to struggle for much longer than 1 hour without seeing a delivery, each delivery although some bitches do take a rest midway if they have a large litter. This is why you lost one of these two, and from the sounds of it, may well lose the other. If this were my situation, I'd be calling my vet (and would have long before this) now, not waiting for morning. Not only does this puppy need checking over at least, but she needs to have a shot to clear her out, and her remaining puppies need to be checked for abnormalities.

Frankly I'd have had my b itch to the vet after losing 3 puppies ..................not that being caught would have happened either. Sorry. I hope you will be getting her spayed once she's reared these puppies?

You left a bi#ch in labor outside in your yard. Clueless doesn't even begin to describe you. No doubt you'll put them all back outside when you go to class tomorrow. Surrender the dam and her pups to a rescue before you kill the rest of them.

That last pair came too late. There was some problem. I don't think it will last he night. Ten puppies? Is this her first litter? It is sad, but especially in large litters, not all pups make it.
