I didn't use an essay. I used determination. I saved my money for almost two years. My parents first told me never in a million years would I get a puppy. Then finally they said I could have a dog if I payed for it, and all the supplies, and part of the vet. They told me that because they didn't think I would be able to do it. I read countless articles online reading and researching about puppies and breeds. I've bought books about getting your first puppy. I've saved over $350 dollars, and convinced my parents I am responsible enough to take care of a dog. My tips to you are: save your money (dogs are expensive), adopt from a shelter (you save a dog, and save money), do extra chores around the house (shows how hard you are willing to work) and don't give up. If I would have gave up I wouldn't be getting the most adorable shih-tzu/bichon mix this Friday. Good luck! I hope you get your puppy!

An essay isn't needed, instead, you do things like.

Clean your room and KEEP it clean.

Sweep the floor.

Do your homework on time.

Get good grades.

Don't fight with your brothers and sisters.

Don't talk back to adults.

Eat what your parents give you and don''t make any faces about it.

Remember to share.

Do research on taking care of a dog and what breed of dog you want.

Ask them nicely and don't whine or beg when you talk about getting a new pet.

How much I want a dog. (This is my essay..Its not 'the' essay...but it might work)

I would do anything for a dog.

I will take it for walks.

I will brush its fur.

I would sell my bed and sleep on my floor.

I would sell my pillow and use a stuffed animal.

I will ALWAYS care for it.

And most of all LOVE IT.

Thats how much I want a dog.

Well, my daughter demonstrated her readiness for a pet by her actions, not by whining "please" a million times. When I saw she had the dedication to take care of a pet rat, I knew she was ready for a dog.
