Question:
Will my dog still have a "red rocket" after he is neutered?

I have a 15 week old puppy that is going to get neutered in about a month. Today is the first day I saw his "red rocket" come out when he was watching me cook. (strange?) I was just wondering if this will still happen after he is neutered because I find it to be a little gross. I know it is not his fault and it is normal. Either way I don't like it and if that happens around my 2 year old neices and nephews I wont know how to explain. Answer please!

Yea your dog will still have a " Red Rocket".♥ It will take a while for him to get his hormones down. My dogs always let their rockets out. It is a realy common thing trust me. If you have anymore comments just ask me. Im a vet.

Thanks, hope it helps♥

First of all, I am totally against irresponsible breeding. But I want to caution you about neutering too early, especially large breed. I dont know what kind of dog you have, so just want to make a suggestion and not try to push ideas to you, because vets don't tell us things such as this.

This is an article I would suggest you to read before neutering your dog.

15 weeks and you said he is going to get neutered in a month, so I assume he will be 5 mths old when he is going to get his surgery. This is early. When you neuter your dog, you take away the testosterone. Beside being a sex hormone, testosterone is very important to proper muscle and skeletal development. Go to any introductory animal physiology text book and read about it, you will know I am not making it up. So in the long run, especially larger breed, the body structure won't be proper and may have problem in long run.

I know this red rocket thing is sometimes "hard" to explain in front of children but it's just fact of life.

Ok just when was a dogs penis dubbed a "red rocket" that is about the dumbest phrase I ever heard. But anyhow be care full that his penis don't catch on anything such as blankets and such. Also if it is exposed for any length of time it could become dry and cause him pain, so check it every so often for dampness, you may need to put some Vaseline on it to get it to go back in

Yes. Some dogs. I have 9. 7 are males. All neutered. My 2 year old Dachshund's penis comes out when he is excited about anything.

Normal.

Yes he will! If it happens around them you probably wont have to say anything mine just thought he had an owy and I let it at that because they were so young. They did not really ask me they just said oh no kota has an owwy and moved on with their day lol. They also assumed that when the dog mounted them he was giving them a hug lmao.

well most males will get that when they are using the bathroom or scratching and other activities such as those....

i mean if they ask what it is just say it's just part of a dog, they won't understand and hopefully won't be intrigued to find it again

Our family has a golden retriever that has been neutered almost 4 years ago and his "lipstick" still comes out on occasion. :)

Red rocket? My chihuahua is neutered, and he displays one on occasion. Its just a part of his itty bitty anatomy; no biggie ( ha ha) not gross; just natural and kinda cute. Means absolutely nothing to him or to me..he can't be a daddy. And after all he's just a dog.

Yes he will still have his rocket.

Tell the kids to go ask their parents

Getting it neutered that early is BAD! If your vet says its alright to neuter that young, get a new vet! Dogs should be neutered 6+ months! There isn't enough development time if you neuter that early and you will pay for it when the dog gets older!

Yep, its entirely possible since most of the time it has ZERO to do with his hormones and more to do with being relaxed. So buckle yourself in and get used to it.

Well, even you cut that thing,it he just can't produce sperm, but still have sex hormone. He will do it naturally if he find something interesting. For example,if you close ur zip your mouth, you still have a strong feeling that you wanna eat if you see a meal or something Delicious.Something like that was happen to your dog

Yes neutering will remove his testicles. He'll still have a penis. Not a 'red rocket'. Let's be adult and use proper anatomical terms here.

It probably wont happen as often but he is still a male so you cant rule it out completely

If you don't like it you should have gotten a female.

A male will ALWAYS have his penis no matter if he has one, two, or zero testicles.

Deal with it!

IT TAKES A LITTLE TIME FOR THE HORMONES TO SETTLE DOWN BUT YES IT WILL
