I really wasn't going to answer this question, since there's really no point in repeating what others say.

but.

jacquidube -- Huskies are NOT aggressive toward other dogs.

Where did you acquire your false information?

And HOW is it hard to introduce another breed to a lab?

Labs are *pretty much* the top most versatile breed that can adapt to just about any situation.

Get a better resource next time.

As for your dog.

Why are you opposed to getting another lab? I'm just wondering.

I'd suggest something that's also in the Sporting group.

Golden Retrievers, Flat Coated Retrievers, and Curly-Coated Retrievers would all be about the same.

Unless you have a fenced in yard, with a 6ft+ fence that extends underground, you don't mind fur, and you can handle a dog that doesn't care about what you want -- then I wouldn't suggest getting a Siberian Husky.

They *are* beautiful and they *are* appealing; but they're definitely not for everyone.

Huskies are great dogs but if your lab is inside that is almost a definate bad match. Labs and Huskies in general will get along fine since labs are very gentle dogs. Huskies need to have room to run and must have an outdoor area to run and they shed a lot! Golden retrievers are great dogs! Similar to the lab but seem to be better with small children. have fun!

Labs are well known for their friendly temperament, intelligence, and being gentle as well as playful. When getting your dog a companion, you will want to find a dog that shares the same traits as your Lab. The Labrador Retriever is a large sporting breed of dog that comes from Newfoundland; they have a Wide Muzzle, Thick Neck, Chestnut or Hazel eyes, a Otter-like Tail, Webbed Feet, and come in Yellow, Brown, Black, and Silver. Labs are the most popular dog breed in America, they are Wonderful Companions and Adore Children, making

them one of the most trainable dogs.

Dogs in the same age group are recomended, that way, they will always have the same amount of "life" left in them. Dogs in the same catagory are recomended as well, you will want a dog around the same height as your dog, so they can play and wrestle without injuring each other. You dream of owning a Husky, that may work!

You can get a mixed breed or, Mutt. Labradors are very well known to be good with Golden Retrievers. I own a Male Golden Retriever Lab Mix named Jake, and they are very good dogs! Both the Golden and Lab are very intellengent and bright dogs, making the Mixed Breed wonderful companion dogs! A Husky should be a good friend for your lab! You may want to get a Mixed Breed of a Lab. You may also, want to look at your Local Animal Shelter. With your help, you could save a life and find a great companion for both you and your Lab! Contact your Local Animal Shelter and ask to bring your dog along with you to visit the dogs. Your Lab may find a great friend there! No matter what, NEVER buy a dog from Puppy Mills. There, they keep female dogs in a small crate and force them to have puppys, when the dog can not have any more, they kill the dog. Whether you get a Purebreed or a Mutt, always remember you have a wonderful friend. I hope I have helped you on your journey to find your new Best Friend. Good Luck!

Any dog should be fine, The person before me said something about not getting a Pitbull! Dont' listen to that! I have a 1 year old black lab and a 5 month old pit and they get a long great! Any dog will be fine if you socialize it with her. I'd be careful with getting another female though, some dogs can be very terrirotial!!

Good Luck!

Huskies are beautiful dogs and I would love one myself and still contemplating whether to get one but I have 2 cats and huskies are quite aggressive towards them and especially other dogs, its their instinct to chase. I would think twice about getting one if you have a dog. People I know who have labs and want a playmate have always chosen another lab, they get on together really well. Its hard to introduce another breed with a lab and it would make life easier for you if you went for another lab because you know what they want.

With tireless work ethic, supreme compatibility with just about anything or anyone and a gentle personality, you probably won't need to worry about your lab. Consider the breed of the other dog based on their compatibility.

Labs are great for getting alone with just about any breed of dogs. I would stay away from Pitt Bulls. They are good dogs but don't always get along with other dogs.
