Are Pitbull cross Staffy's illegal in the UK? Is there any way of getting round the law if they are?

Basically I want a pitstaffy, not sure if they're legal or what not, if they aren't, is there any way of getting round the laws?

Any type of pit bull is banned including mixes but it does not stop people breeding them illegally why do you want to break the law its not worth it .

They're NOT actually illegal if it is a cross breed no one can put to sleep a cross breed dog as they can't prove it is a cross breed I have had an Irish blue which is a type of pitbull/staffy and no one batted an eyelid I love pitbulls and staffys they're both lovely affectionate great dogs and great with kids don't care what anyone says I now have three loveable staffys and I'm an auntie of four so they're always round my dogs they're amazing with them all so I would deffo recommend

staffordshire bull terriers and pit bull terriers look so similar there is not much difference, its just the build, i dont think you have a real pit bull terrier, its probably the breeders making up lies to make you buy him, the only way you can own a put bull is to go through the courts and you cant just apply you have to be chosen, and then you have to put him in a muzzle every time you leave the house, have him neutered and have him tattooed and thats only if they pass the tests for temperament etc if they dont pass they are euthenized. Pit bulls are gorgeous dogs but people make them in to menaces, i wish they were legal here and just had laws on the idiots who own and breed them to fight! If you take them to the local vet and say hes a staff im sure they wouldnt even notice

Yes they most definitely ARE illegal, and if you go getting anything with a pit in it or that looks like a pit bull then expect the worse. How could you care for a dog and then see it taken off of you and put in kennels for months until the court case comes up. Oh and that is 6 months imprisonment or £5000 fine as well.



You obviously haven't been following the story of Lennox who hasn't even got pit bull in him but looks like he has....

Add on - I'm afraid Trisha is wrong. The UK staffie and the pit bull are NOT the same. The American or Irish staffie is more like the pit bull, but a true Staffordshire is tiny in comparison and is not banned in the UK. They are shown throughout the country.

they are the same breed. whether you call it a pitbull or a staffy there the same dog. the name split came too because of different kennel clubs using different names when registering them.



so it comes down to a technicalitySo yes he is a staffy cross, if you got laws against pits there and not against staffys just keep telling people no he is a staffy, you are not wrong and they are very unlikely too prove you wrong.
