My friend's dog looks like a peek-a-poo he says his dog is a peek-a-nova. I have searched the net and found nothing. Is there such a breed? If so what do they look like?
I live in middle-east at the moment and people here don't know much about dogs.

My first thought was pekenise x nova scotia duck tolling retriever....but seriously ask yourself....how would that happen??

Also - peek - a - poo's are not mutts, they are hybrids....like lurchers. Bred for a purpose, a peeek - poo was bred to make a dog that has the pekes temprement, but not the flat nose - hence breeding with a poodle.

Mutts indeed.

There is no such recognised breed as a "peek-a-nova" or a "peek-a-poo"

These are silly nonsensical, made-up names for mutts by backyard breeders out to get your money!

Who would want to peek at poo anyway?

Peeking at a star sounds like an astrologer

ADDED: ROFLOL @ Emummy - a "Hybrid" is a cross between two different species of animal, like a Horse and a Zebra, and the resultant offspring are sterile as they have two differing sets of chromosomes ! It tickles me when people think that a mutt/crossbreed is a "hydbrid" - as if that makes it better somehow - you have been sucked in with the scam sweetie. :-)

Peek a nova omg, what will they think of next, so funny. I can't take to much more.

NO it is a MUTT. Also there is no such thing as a peek a poo either.

another new name for a desginer mutt, puppy millers sure find new ways to sell mutts for big bucks!

I presume Nova would stand for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

I would presume Peek=Pekingese

No such thing as Peek a poo=Pekingese x Poodle=Peeka poo is simple another name to make unsuspecting buyer think they are getting a Purebred, when there getting a mutt

Which would equal a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever x Pekingese or as your friend would ay Peek-a-nova which is a term given by PUPPY millers to make unsuspecting buyer think there PURCHASING a PUREBRED dog, when there actual purchasing a common mutt easily found in shelter without the price tag these so called breeder charge!

Now don't get me wrong. I love Jake Gyllenhaal as much as the next girl, but this picture makes me want to smack him. A puggle, Jake? Really? I thought better of you.

If you are planning on investing in one of these breeds (the goldendoodle, the cockapoo, peekapoo or peekanova really any of the -doodles or the -poos), I guess that's your prerogative, but please just hear me out first.

What is This New Fad?

If, somehow, you have missed it, there's a new trend in celebrity dog ownership: strang, unnatural crosses of unhealthy dogs that people pay thousands of dollars to own. They call them "designer dogs."

Look at these Amazon links to the left! There are books now about these popular dog "breeds," describing their temperaments and how to raise them. Again with the wanting to smack people. These animals are not a new breed; they are mutts! Accidents!

Now, I'm all for the owning of mutts. I, myself, have never had anything else. But to breed (that is, intentionally) is to choose two champion animals with a high quality of various traits and to test the parents for congenital diseases. Puggle, labradoodle, pekepoo, or any other cutesie-named dog breeders are not doing this. They are picking cute animals and forcing them to breed beyond their capacity. They are not breeding to "improve the breed." They are breeding solely to make money, and that poses problems for the animals and for their owners.

So Why Not Get One?

Well, sure, they're cute! They're dogs, and these specific ones are designed to be cute! But they're also a fad, and if you've ever given in to one, you know that they don't last. When you get a dog, you are committing to him for life, not for however long you happen to want him around.

And even if you want to carry your dog around like our friend Jake does, the dog is not a child either. In fact, I recommend the hub entitled Is a Dog Human? for more on that. The answer is, basically, no, and if you expect this designer breed to act as a human in your family, you will only disappointed. These dogs are not special or exempt from that rule because they are "designer."

What is to be Done?

Still think you need one of these "designer hybrids"? Think you can't even deal with adopting a brand new, accidental "hybrid" from the pound?

Basically, all that can be done to overcome this destructive fad is to keep a level head. If you want a pekingese x nova scotia duck tolling retriever/pekingese mix, I almost guarantee there is one at your local shelter. But if you buy a "Peekanova," you are encouraging puppy mill and backyard breeders to breed more trendy dogs who will not necessarily be healthy.

Pet overpopulation is enough of a problem in this country. Please don't add to the problem.

Labrador Retriever : Few breeds so richly deserve their popularity as the Labrador retriever. Devoted, obedient and amiable, the Lab is good with children, other dogs and other pets. It will be a calm house dog, playful yard dog and intense field dog, all on the same day. It is eager to please, enjoys learning and excels in obedience. It is a powerful breed that loves to swim and retrieve. Labradors are active and sociable dogs. They need daily exercise. • Life span: 10 – 12 years Boxer- The boxer is playful, exuberant, inquisitive, attentive, demonstrative, devoted and outgoing; it is a perfect companion for an active family. It can be stubborn, but it is sensitive and responsive to commands. It may be aggressive toward strange dogs, but it is generally good with other household dogs and pets. . It likes to run, but its exercise needs can also be met with a good jog or a long walk on leash. It does not do well in hot weather and is generally unsuited to living outdoors. It does best when allowed to divide its time between a house and yard. Some snore. Its coat needs only occasional brushing to remove dead hair. • Life span: 8 – 10 years Bearded Collie- The boisterous beardie is lively and playful, full of enthusiasm and energy. It is smart and obedient, but it is an independent thinker with a clownish sense of humor. It likes children, but it may be too rambunctious for small children and may try to herd them when playing. This active dog needs either a good jog, a very long walk or a vigorous play session every day. It especially enjoys herding. The beardie can live outside in cool climates, but it is happier when allowed access to the house with its family. Its long coat needs brushing or combing every other day. VERY HEALTHY! • Life span: 12 – 14 years

Its a mutt, a cross breed and it makes your friend 'feel' better pretending it is a 'breed'.........your friend must be ashamed she has a mutt for some reason so needs to give it a 'designer title'

If there is, it is not a mix listed with the American Canine Hybrid Club yet. The ACHC keeps an up to date list of the new "designer breeds".

Edit: Ok, why all the thumbs down for showing that there have been no mixed breeds of that name listed yet?

it's just combined names of crossed breeds. My Mom has a Chi-weeny...a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund.
