I live in Roanoke VA. I have never been charged with any criminal or traffic violations. Do I need a lawyer? I thought I could just pay the fine and it be over. But I do not want this on my record

Get the licensing and get the rabies shots done. Take proof of this to your local Animal Control or whoever you need to (AC will be able to tell you), and that will basically be the end of it. No need to hire a lawyer. While it may be on your record either way, there's a good chance it wont bother anything.

I doubt you need a lawyer over this - dog license violations are pretty open-and-shut (either you had your dog properly licensed and documeted or you didn't). Fix the problem (get your dog vaccinated and licensed), pay the fine and it should pretty much be over.

Unfortunately, it will probably be a part of your permanent record. You may want to find a lawyer to ask about that more specifically, but I doubt there is much he could do to change it. Or you could ask the judge. It's possible that if you comply with the fine and licensing you might be able to get this off your record. But I'm not a legal expert. If you want some detailed legal advice about how this is going to affect you in the future, you will have to consult a legal expert.

But I doubt most employers will care too much about it (if that's what you are worried about), especially if it's the only thing on your record. Just be honest about it from the beginning - "Look, I got a technical misdemeanor because was late getting my dog's rabies booster and license." Most employers are not going to see it as much of a problem.

Just pay the fine. It's not worth getting a lawyer for. You may also be required to take care of getting that license & rabies shot and proving it. It's too minor of a thing on your record to effect you much. Don't worry about it.

Get the license & the rabies shot & show proof that you have had it done & that should be the end of it.

Was the charge related to animal abuse? If not, it won't affect your ability to get a dog license.

As far as needing a lawyer or paying fines, this isn't the right forum to ask in.

I think you might get better answers out of the law question and answers. Here we can just guess. Have a nice day
