i just made my 1 year old goldendoodle a cake for his birthday, i found the recipe online and it included a recipe for frosting, but my mother told me just to use cool whip as the frosting, would it be safe? thanks(:

It won't kill him but it doesn't mean it's good for him. I would just go with the doggie frosting recipe.

Sugar to a dog is the same as Crack Cocaine for a human in science standards...
A spoonful to show some love, but an entire cake and frosting whip cream on not?
You may just take a few years off it's life?

Cool whip is not my first choice to give to a dog. Chances are your dog wouldn't die from eating cool whip but he could develope some indigestion. I'd recommend that if you want to make your dog a cake for his birthday use frosting for the dog. Or don't use any at all! Good luck with your doggy cake

REAL cream is a real food. Although it's a sugary dairy product, if your dog accidently ate a tiny bit it would be fine. Too much and your dog would likely throw up. Cool Whip is not even food - it's imitation whipped cream, nothing but nasty hydrogenated oils, corn syrups, artificial flavors, and carcinogenic preservatives. PEOPLE shouldn't eat it, let alone a dog.

Cool whip is sugar free, I just checked the iongreediants but does contain stuff I'm sure I will not eat again

It's not great for dogs, too much sugar and chemicals. The home made frosting would be better, but it won't kill them.

You're going through this trouble to give your dog a cake?
It doesn't matter if it's his birthday the dog doesn't know that.
But anywho I wouldn't risk it

A dog should never be given anything that contains sugar, period.
