We have a 5 year old beagle and a 1 year old jack russell who are both sweethearts. Recently we rescued a 1 1/2 year old beagle from being put down and she is a sweet dog too. They all love each other and play lots, infact sometimes it seems like our new dog has lived here her whole life. But, occasionally our other 2 get frustrated, which i expected, and they are a little mean to her. i find that is is more so with our 5 year old and we are wondering what is the best way to comfort our old dogs while welcoming the new one. we always treat our old dogs first, food, treats, walks, ect. but we were just seeing if there are any other secrets to making the transition smooth.
thanks!!!

You didn't say what your other two were (male/female) and that could make all the difference in the integration. If your older one is a female, then she is the Alpha and will be mean or aggressive to show the other dog her place..the younger one will go along with the older dog to show that is obedient and respects the older dog's position.

I think it sounds like you are doing everything right!! And only time will help them settle there issues.

You are doing well. It is their way of determining where they fit in the pack. As long as they don't fight, let them have had it.
