if i saw that add in a newspaper: 'viszla/shorthair pointer/weimeriner pups for sale'

i seriously would expect the words: 'free to approved and inspected homes' after it. maybe would accept the words: '$75 to approved and inspected homes'.

your one dog is a mutt, and her pups will be mutt's x2 - don't expect to make loads of cash off this unfortunate litter. you should be so lucky as to find them all good and safe homes with ppl who won't abandon them or treat them horribly as they age.

if not going to be given for free to ppl who submit an adoption application with you and you see their home - then i say $50-$75 is reasonable as that's about the average price to save a dog from death row at any city pound. and those dogs/puppies come UTD with shots and they're fixed.

also, removing the dewclaw is not necessary and is cruel. the other stuff - vaccinated and dewormed is awesome and should be done no matter what by you who sanctioned and allowed this litter to happen.

lastly, IF (and i do mean this to be a BIG 'if') you ask for over $100, it'd best be contingent. meaning, you take $100-$150 from the ppl who want the puppy/ies, and when they can prove they got the dog set up with a good vet and have an appointment to fix the animal, you'll refund a portion (like, $50-$80).

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. You should have a necropsy done to determine the cause of death and should let the breeder know so that they can make any changes necessary to their breeding program. Sadly, this can happen to any dog (not just purebreds) but is far more common among backyard bred dogs whose parents didn't have the cardiac clearances a responsibly bred dog does. It is possible you can recover the cost of your dog and its veterinary expenses through use of the Puppy Lemon Law if your state has one (contact your State Attorney General) if this was due to a congenital anamoly. If you bought her from a responsible breeder and this is the result of a congenital anamoly the breeder will refund your money or give you a new puppy.

I agree with Ty B, this breeding should never have happened. It denigrates the integrity of the breeds involved! However, you shouldn't give any puppies away to strangers. Ask $100. If you begin their training, crate training especially, you may be able to take advantage of the hunting instincts and interest people interested in field dogs for a higher price...however, many formal field trial competitions will bar mixed breed dogs. In short, the pups are worth what someone will pay, but never what you'll put into them.

I would say around 100-225. Maybe 150 for males, 225 for females. Just like adopting a dog from a shelter, other than.. they won't have vaccinations, etc. They're going to be gorgeous puppies. ^.^ Very nice hunting dogs if trained well. I'm interested to see how they will turn out.

If you know people that want them I would give them away. If people are paying I would ask $50 to weed out people that want the dogs for unsavory purposes.

This is a breeding that should have never happened

Sorry to burst your bubble but they are glorified mutts. Don't get me wrong, mutts make the best dogs but you are not going to make money off these the way a breeder does on pure-breeds or even 'designer' dogs which are also just glorified mutts (and I own a rescued one)

um probably 50-100 dollars. even three great hunting breeds or not its a big mutt, now if it was one of those yes probably 500-800 dollars but it shouldn't be

Cost of vaccines and deworming plus the cost of have your b*tch spayed divided by the number of puppies

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for a mutt. And that's only if it's had it's shots.

Just ask for the cost that you have put into them. Make sure you send vet records home. Don't expect to make money off of them. Then have your dog's spayed and neutered please! :)

honestly they are all mutts,,,i wouldnt charge too much, you will be stuck with them. i would charge enough to cover the vet bills you have already incurred.
