As for as which breeds are most intelligent, The most intelligent group is the herding group followed closely behind by the hunting group. The most intellient dog of all is the border collie followed next by the shetland sheepdog. To decide what kind of dog you want shouldnt solely depend on intelligence. You need to find a dog that fits into your lifestyle. Any dog can be trained it just takes patience and alot of love

I would say any dog is easy to train as long as it's done with love and kindness and in their own was all dogs are intelligent. If I had to pick I would have to say the choice is between a collie, labrador, alsation or jack russell.

I have a blue marl collie and at 4 years old she is still picking up new tricks, it took an hour to teach her 'roll over' last month. Collies listen when you talk to them, know how to turn on a 'not me!' look when they steal some food from under you nose, mine is starting to be really protective of me...the list goes on. Farmers use them as sheep dogs and it's great to see a collie when they're working.

So far as I know Alsatians/German Shepherds are more easy to train. They have keen sense of spatial perception and higher intellectual quotient as most dogs. They also possess suitable body structure.
