My dad has severe allergies, but never has had a problem with poodles. Would he have problems with yorkies? I have seen websites that say they are good for people with allergies, but I just need to make sure.
thank you!

I'm not sure that yorkies are more allergy friendly than other dogs; I've never seen them advertised as such. However, whatever kind of dog you get, make sure to test out the individual dog with your dad before you commit to taking the dog home. No breed is really universally hypoallergenic. Some breeds bother some people with allergies and not others and the amount of allergens a dog produces can vary even between littermates.

NOT true! First hand allergy knowledge here. Poodles are the perfect dog for allergic people, this is very well known. Yorkies are highly allergic. Test you dad around one first. My daughter has no problem with the poodles, but is horribly miserable around our friends yorkie. It's a HUGE benadryl moment when they come visit. Everyone is different of course but I find them to be allergic difficult.

My son has allergies. But he is find with our Yorkie. He is find with all types of dog. Usually, people are either allergy to dog (all dogs not certain type of dog) or not at all.
But, to be sure, you may want to do some test before you get a Yorkie. Either take him to friend with Yorkie, or if a doctor can do special test for allergy again Yorkie.

Well, no doge is completely allergy proof, but a Yorkshire terrier is one of the breeds that are easier to deal with for people with allergies. Keep on doing research, there are other breeds too. ^_^ If there is a certain dog you are interested in, make sure your dad goes to meet that dog, and see how the reaction goes. Good luck :)

Believe me, Yorkies are NO PROBLEM at all. I have severe animal allergies too, but I have a Yorkie and I have never had any problems with him. But you were right to double-check your info.

It is *not* a hypo-allergenic dog (like the Bichon) but many people with allergies due find them quite easy to tolerate. Might I recommend while thinking about it, that you and your father take a visit to some Yorkie breeders? Find a breeder that deals specifically with Yorkies (e.g. no cats, Collies, etc running around) and explain to them that you're interested, your father's condition, and that you would like to hang out with the puppies for awhile to see how he handles it.
Best of luck...

Yorkies are good for people with allergies because they don't shed.

each and every breed of dogs produces allergens from their epidermis and coat. I easily have 3 Pomeranians and whilst they blow their coats that's like a hairdressers in my residing house, hair everywhere. Poms want extremely some interest to their coats because of the sheer quantity of it. Your sister can attempt to be desensitised yet this does not continually artwork, you will possibly could ask your wellness practitioner. My vet is allergic to dogs and cats yet she loves being a vet plenty that she places up with it, it is dedication!
