I'd like to create a large athletic aesthetically pleasing breed. Something with the size of a mastiff but the agility and athleticism of a German shepherd, and most of all just really great looking. A large companion type of dog. The breeds I think that mixing would make a desirable offspring for me would be, and not in this order, Akita, Great Dane, American bulldog, Tibeten mastiff, Irish wolfhound, Belgian malinois, Alaskan malamute, Saluki, Rottweiler, And Anatolian shepherd or kangal dog. Now I'm not knowledgable on health issues and if mixing too many breeds can cause issues i have no idea. However I think that those breeds have traits that I really like and Ide like to see my favorite traits all in one dog. Ide like a large dog anywhere from 32-40 inches tall preferably on the taller side and over 100 pounds somewhere around 150-220, but an athletic frame not quite the tall thin look of the Great Dane or the large burly look of the mastiff, almost as if youde taken a German shepherd and increased its width evenly with its height until it reached those parameters. I'd prefer a longer muzzle as opposed to something like a boxer, pug or mastiffs short smushed in muzzle, but it's doesn't have to be as pointy as a doberman. As for the fur Ide like either short fur like a lab or doberman otherwise if long I like the Wolfy German shepherd type fur nothing wirey like the irish wolfhound, but hopefully not as thick as a huskies because shedding would be a pain not too big of a pain but in a perfect world either a German shepherd type coat or short like a Dane or doberman. Color depending on the type of coat but i like a grey and whitish color for the longer coat mixed with or even just solid black aswelll, either or, and for short it could be beige fawn chocolate blue grey or even black or white. I have no preference of eye color really. i do like the german shepherds ears as opposed to a rottwieler floppy ear type but its really not a big deal for me. As for temperments i think that alot of dogs do have natural disposition to certain types of attitudes and behaviour however i believe that 99.9% of that becomes irrelevant when it comes to how The dog is raised. a dog breed can be considered savage and deadly but as long as you raise the individual pup in the right environment and socialize it properly with stern boundaries i think natural dispositions are garbage, so i dont really have any personality traits ide be looking for i think everything living is an individual. Any thoughts, if you think this is possible or not, or if you think it's a cool idea and plausible please share.

Followers of the various breeds already in existence have already spent years, and generations producing the breed they want, for the purpose they want and drawing up a Breed Standard for future breeders to follow - so why do you think you NEED to be doing this I wonder when there are hundreds of perfectly good breeds of all shapes and sizes, and colours, out there to choose from already.

It took these people a long time, and a lot of hard work to produce a dog that will remotely start to breed true (produce what's wanted, generation on generation) so what you propose isn't going to be able to be achievable for years.

Producing a breed requires lots of knowledge, understanding of pedigrees, the ability to know when things are going wrong. And the ability to realise that when a wrong turn has been taken, culling might be necessary. Good luck with your ideas here, but me thinks you'll do far better to look for an existing breed, from a reputable breeder and leave all this alone, before you do far more harm, than good.

All breeds have to start somewhere, however it takes many many years to ever get a breed accepted by any legitimate registry. You need to establish a standard, then a breed club, and then you can apply for registration permission.

You can not do this alone and the breed standard has to prove itself over many generations of breeding and not just by you. Then all the breeders have to get together to form a breed club in order to police the standard and prove it workable as well as keep health records to eliminate any health problems. Once all the records are completed, then you can apply to the registries for permission for this breed to be recognized. It takes a long time and is extremely expensive and extremely difficult.

Thousands of cross breeds are put to sleep in rescue homes, because amateurs have expectations. Its not a cool idea.

Although you are not looking to make a profit, you will either have to sell the puppies for a pittance, or give them away to kids and idiots. When the kids and idiots fail to train their dogs, they will be dumped and ultimately euthanized as no one will adopt a dog which is not toilet trained and has become anti-social

Irresponsible pet breeding is already causing *so many* problems: unsound dogs, fad "designer" breeds, the killing of thousands of shelter dogs every single day...

There's no good reason to add to this problem.

And, honestly, the vast majority of your "ideal dog" traits are about looks and appearance-- and that's *never* a good reason to breed.

You can find your "ideal dog" in a shelter or rescue-- and you'll be making a positive impact, instead of a negative one.

Its not possible The breeds we have have been around 1000s of years and we have enough problems with the breeds we have already
