Well, I just got an 8 week old Black Labrador Retriever Puppy today. Hes really calm but playful too. I was wondering what are some easy ways to teach him tricks and commands, and also cool, unusual tricks to teach him. Also easy ways to housbreak him, hes already prooving himself to be quite a smart little bugger!. Ive been taking him out every 3 hours, Is that a good start?. Also how much should I feed him everyday?. He weighs about 15 punds now, and hes got long legs and huge paws (I know hes going to be big) Ive done my research on this breed (American Black Labrador Retriever) But im just curious. By the way his name is Zeus!!=] Thanks So Much Guys!!

because he's going to be a big dog, I would recommend obedience class and basic commands first. He needs to be socialized properly around other dogs, and taught the basics of sit, stay, come, leave it, take it, watch me, loose leash walking, etc. training is pretty much always one way. show them, treat them, repeat and repeat and repeat, in every room of your house and all the time on walks.

he needs to be taken to a vet and set up for his shots and vaccines, and maybe micro-chipped and fixed per your personal preferences. because he's going to be big, ask them to check his hips and joints for early signs of problems often faced with bigger breeds. they may also help you decide if he's a healthy weight and how much/how often he should be fed per day. Ask for a food recommendation or do your own research to find a good feed for him.

Because he's so young I might even take him out more than every three hours if you have the time, just to avoid cleaning up messes and to help with housebreaking. Personally I also recommend crate training. Make sure to clean up any messes in the house with cleaners or home mixtures so he can't smell the mess and be tempted to go there again. he especially needs to be taken out after a meal.

i would say wait on the complicated stuff until he's settled in your house, bonded to you, house broken and trained, socialized and taught the basics before tackling unusual tricks, though I'm sure he'll get there :) he sounds like a great dog.

I'm gonna have to say no on this one. I have a Lab, he's about 15 months old now. There is NO way I would have been able to handle two Lab puppies at the same time. They are extremely high energy and take a lot of attention and training to become great dogs. I'd fear that if you had two growing up at the same time, one would feed off the others negative behaviors and training would become increasingly difficult for both you and the puppies. I think dogs growing up together is a wonderful idea, however, I think with Labs they deserve 100% devotion in order to grow up to be the great dogs they can be. I would wait until your puppies first birthday to add another Lab to the family, but that's just my opinion. Labs are normally very accepting to new puppies, so an addition later down the line should not be an issue. We just got two bunnies a few days ago, and my 100lb Lab will lay on the floor and lick them until they run away. He loves new puppies, kittens and other animals!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMCkm

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

There are trainers and training classes all over the place and they are not expensive. You can find someone who really knows what they are doing and it will be worth the money.

My wife and I really respect Cesar Milan and have learned a lot from his shows and books. It has really worked for us and our dogs.
