We just got our English Bulldog a little over a week ago. I have researched a lot about this breed and I follow the potty training tips. For the most part, he does good while inside the house...but it seems like he has to go every 30 minutes. I will take him outside and then about 30 minutes later I will catch him pissing on the carpet..and its not alot, its only a little. Also, When I am at work, my sister in law takes him out of his crate several times a day to play with him and let him go to the bathroom. When I get home, his pad in his crate is SOAKED in urine. We just took him to the vet two days ago and he does not have a urine infection or anything. I dont understand whats going on. Do bulldogs just have small bladders and have to pee every 30 minutes? Do you think he just doesnt care about peeing in his crate or wear he pees at? I encourage him everytime he goes potty outside. I do everything I read to do...He is 6 months old on May 1st. Shouldnt his bladder be big enough to at least hold it for 6 hours? HELP!!!!!!

When you took him to the Vet 2 days ago, did they do an Urinalysis? If they didn't, there is NO way to know if he has a UTI or not. I suggest you get this done if it wasn't.

What tests did the vet do? Just a urine test? And just ONE urine test does not really tell the whole story because to get an accurate reading, urine needs to be take at 4 different times during the day and all 4 need to be tested.

I suggest you call your vet and ask for a full panel blood test. Find out what his kidney values are..

He is urinating too much. There is something else going on physically. Back to the vet.

In the first 6 months of their lives, puppies should be taken out every our to use the washroom. If they do go potty outside, praise them and even give them a treat (most bulldogs LOVE food) when he gets past six months, try getting someone to take him outside every two to three hours. Six hours is far too long to hold it in, even for us. Once your puppy gets to one year, then he will be able to hold it in longer. Of you ever catch him going on the carpet, be sure to give a firm "no" and just ignore him (don't give him ANY attention) for two minutes. Dogs hate to be ignored and once this happens a couple times he will realize that he should not "go" on the carpets.

Fairly normal... my Bulldog (female) is almost four months old and has to pee every hour or so. 30 minutes seems a bit frequent, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. When you clean up the urine, be sure to use a non-ammonia cleaner, as the scent of ammonia makes it seem like it is okay for him to pee there. They have to go less and less frequently as they get older.

He could be scent marking. Have you scrubbed everywhere he has ever peed with an enzyme based cleaner? If not everywhere he has peed will still smell like a good place to pee.
