I have a 19 months old lab/german shepherd mix and a 3 month old German Shepherd/German Shorthair Pointer/Husky mix that will either be medium or large breed. Hard to tell with her.

Is there a natural dog food that they could both eat despite the age difference. She is currently looking for the right food and I want to get my older dog off Eukanuba because his coat is going to crap.

Is there a dog food out there that is for both adult and puppy? Or do they need separate dog food brands?

I wanna avoid natural balance because my older dog tried that in his puppy days and did poorly.

I changed my old dog's food from grocery store kibble to more natural kibble and it has turned her life around. I used Eukanuba, Purina One and Iams before. Then I went to this website, http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com and chose the top brands there. They don't review every premium kibble or wet dog food, but there is a wide variety. Innova seems to lead the pack in most cases, along with Orijen and Wellness.

Since these foods are very expensive, I usually take a list and buy the ones on sale at Petsmart. They have sales on kibble every other week. On the off week, they have sales on good canned food. Ever since I began doing this, my dog has been more active and more interested in life.

I also have used Taste of the Wild, which was first of the premium foods I used, but I never see it rated these days.

By the way, do not buy anything by Waggin Train or any other chicken jerky product. They are ALL made in China and there have been periodic recalls of these products. In addition there have been recalls on Milo's Kitchen Chicken Jerky and it is also made in China.

My mother lost her cat years ago when China started to put melamine in their animal products to boost the protein content. These people have terrible human rights issues; why would we think they care about our dogs and cats?

Petco has some good treats made in the US under the brand Colorado Naturals.

It's not a bad food...but it's not great. Yes, depending on what the allergy is, the food could very well help your dog. (That specific formula is free of corn and other allergy inducing products.) My beef with Nutro is that when they started out they swore they were going to be the small business with small businesses and quality in mind and not go into box stores...well, we can see that didn't hold up. I would definitely not go anything below Nutro's Natural Choice in quality. Their Nutro Max line is garbage. My new dog was on that when I got her and it took at least a month to get rid of her crappy coat from it.

I feed my dog Fromm Four-Star Nutrition

http://frommfamily.com/

They have several different recipes to suit your dogs needs, and all of them ate all life stage formulas

My pup absolutely loves it (he gets the surf and turf flavour which is a higher calorie flavor as he is younge and very active)

Check out any food befor you try it at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

Two other foods I looked into that rate extreamly well on this site are Innova EVO and Origin

castor & pollux is sold at petsmart and all ingredients are made in the united states!

California Natural should be sold at Petco if I remember correctly. It's great because the ingredient list is not long and you can pronounce every ingredient! It's also a good price.

i have found the best thing for dogs and its cheap is to boil plain chicken breasts, and mix it with white rice and a vegetable that is safe for dogs, like carrots or fresh green beans. i have an English bulldog with skin allergies and this works better than any natural food that i have tried. i just make it all at once and save it in the fridge, and heat it just a little in the microwave.

I like the Merrick All Life Stages food when it comes to limited grains, and as for a grain free food, we are currently feeding Taste of the Wild.

I recommend Prey Model Raw and if you don't want to feed this for whatever reason, I recommend Orijen or Acana.
