well, my dad will be taking care of his friend's dog for some short while.. he's a really sweet, energetic & fun-loving dog, but he likes to mount me and my dad's gf as well as mark his territory. I guess it didn't help that my dad's gf had her female dog Snoopy over, he decided to mount her too, but we stopped him. Snoopy had to go to the ER Vet later anyway due to her heart problem and lung fluid. Anywho.. If I walk around with a pillow he doesn't mount me, but how can I get this dog to stop being such a perv and dominate me? btw, he's 4 yrs. old, and he's my dad's friend's dog so we can't cut off the balls of fury (testosterone...sp?..oh well, lol) Thanks

It is not sexual, he is dominating everyone. Try the old doggy time out. Every time he does it, take him, put him in a crate or another room and shut the door and leave him for 15 minutes. Do it right away and every single time. Dogs don't like to be isolated and he'll get the message that his behavior is rude. It may take a little time but it should do the trick.

Humping is a natural behavior, and theres no way to stop it entirely. Humping pets are trying to negotiate who's the boss.

He maybe telling you that he's in control and has no respect for you.

Learn the language of leadership:Dogs usually mount people's legs for the same reason they mount other dogs, to show how tough and dominate they are. you can turn this around by showing them that you are, not they, are in charge. "Dogs need rules"

i recommend playing the "nothing's free" game.

In other words, make your dog work for everything. Make him sit before you feed him, dont give him a snack unless he lies first, and dont let him out the door, unless he sits and waits for your command.

Consistently doing this teaches dogs their owners set the rules, who ever it may be. And once thats understood, they're less likely to take liberties with their owners legs.

its more of a dominating thing for your dog thinking hes in charge of you he wont mount you dad because he has more authority and the dog will see him as the boss just be more strict with him tell him off and dominate him

Here's what you do... get a prong collar, put it on him high and tight (under the ears). Keep a leash on him as well. Whenever he tries to mount, YANK THE LEASH AS HARD AS YOU CAN backwards from the person he is trying to mount.

That should make him think better of ever doing that again.

Training. You teach the dog that behavior is completely unacceptable.

I can't tell you why he does it but I can help you stop it. Every time he starts to mount you, shoot him in the face with a shot of water from a squirt gun. It should shock him enough to stop him.
