I was wondering if anyone knew any breeders or pets shops in California (anywhere near LA or San Fran) that currently have purebred pug puppies for sale (by currently I mean in early-mid April; like between April 10-20).

Requirements (*) / Preferences:

-they MUST have their AKC papers and shots up to date.*
-they can be female or male and any color, although I would prefer black over fawn (well actually I'm not really sure yet).
-also my dad said they should of good representation of their breed, with a small, stout body, and short legs (parents should be around 12-15 pounds).*
-preferably potty trained
-purebred puppies*
-no defects*
-not neutered or spayed*
-seller is comfortable with letting a 13 year old taking care of the puppy (well my dad is very experienced with taking care of dogs but he expects me to be responsible for it)

Please give name of shop or a way of contacting the breeder. I would like to meet the dog and owner before I buy the dog so please do not give me online sellers. This is my first question ever asked on yahoo, but I think I'm supposed to award points to whoever gives me the best answer, right? Please answer this as soon as possible!!!

oops... one more thing, please tell me the estimate of dog's price! (hopefully around $600)
actually i just read something about not buying from pet stores and the increasing puppy populations, so I want a pug from a shelter or breeder. i still want a purebred dog tho and within requirements

No buying from a pet store.

Buy from a reputable breeder or adopt from a local shelter.

Look up Pug breeders in your area, make sure that the breeder is reputable.

If you buy from a breeder, please read this: http://www.nopuppymillscanada.ca/byb_vs_rp.pdf

No reputable, responsible breeder will sell a well-bred puppy for $600 or less. Your looking at more like $900-$1100.

If you can't afford to buy from a reputable breeder, look around at animal shelters and rescue a wonderful dog. Adoption fees are usually anywhere from $50-$200.

Here is the website for a SPCA in California: http://ccspca.com/

Good luck, and make sure to do research on the breed.

12-15 lbs for an adult pug is tiny, I mean really small. I'm not sure where your dad got that size choice from but it's not the norm really. Just google Pug rescue in your area and you can find a wonderful dog. I have one in foster now that would be perfect for you but I'm far away. She is actually that tiny and pure breed but a it fiv you she acts like a puppy. The sweetest pug I have fostered and I'm trying hard not to keep her.
