Does the Caucasian Ovcharka breed (also thought to be a group of breeds) have any dog agressive tendancies?

Before anyone answers with something like "any dog can be trained to get along with other dogs", I just want to clarify this. The dog is known to be large, difficult to train and dominant. If it does have tendancies to be aggressive with other dogs, I'd rather avoid it because multiple male dogs are a reality with me. A dog thats difficult enough to train on its own will be much more of a challenge if it wants to attack its housemates. Also if anyone has any information/stories regarding the breed I'd appreciate some input. Thanks

Mike, I have a gampr dog. She is from Armenia. She is registered as a CO though, as they are technically the same breed, just called something different in their locale.

She was 2 when I took her in as an owner turn in to rescue.

It was a difficult to get her to work with some of my other dogs. It would have been VERY difficult had the previous owner not been so meticulous about socializing her for all of her life before I got her.

If you are not sure of your ability to be the dominant party in a situation with a dog like this, then don't do it. You also need to be aware of unstable bloodlines. Some of the bloodlines in this country are not that stable...fighting lines etc. You need to do your homework and research before you even consider that you MIGHT want one.

The reflexes of these dogs is unlike any you are likely to see in other breeds. Mine can go from being asleep to being 5 foot in the air and on the attack before you can blink you eyes. That is no exaggeration.

She has bonded nicely with us, and I trust her with my son, but let a stranger walk on to the property and you see a completely different dog. Mine is not a nut case, but you know that you need not come further, or she will remove you. She shows self control though, and is not one that will just go nuts when she sees a stranger, but she will not allow strangers to touch her, unless I put her on lead and bring her out of her pasture, and she only allows them to touch if I tell her to. This is a dog that had a professional trainer for the first 2 years of her life.

I saw a documentary on dangerous dogs, and owning one of these dogs is not to be taken lightly. They are very powerful, strong willed and aggressive and can easily kill a person. I suppose if the dog was raised from a puppy with the other dogs in the house,it would be OK,but I really don't know that much about them, other than what I saw on the documentary.Even the tiny puppies were vicious!

The documentary I saw was on the National Geographic Channel, too,so it must have been the same one.

pretty much all the breeders of this breed of dog claim they are very very protective without training and can be very dangrous if not trained from a very young age to be somewhat social, they are not social even then they are very protective! of the family and will not tolerate a stranger the Fila is the same way some much so that aggressiveness is desired by the breeders. when raised in the family they will develope a close relationship with other pets and family not strange dogs or strange people training will keep its protective nature in check but when left alone strangers beware!

the best thing I ever saw on these dogs was on the NGC

No, you may not sign up a blended breed canines with AKC.... nor are you able to compete in any overall performance or conformation activities. constrained Registration is for PUREBRED canines that the breeder would not choose shown in conformation nor bred. It would not prepare to blended breed canines. An ILP# is for canines of purebred background, that for in spite of reason have not got "papers"...ie rescue, guard canines, etc...besides the incontrovertible fact that it ought to be shown and then authorized with the help of AKC that the canines is the breed you're claiming. The AKC is approximately merchandising and retaining the purebred canines. And that includes competitions of all types. There are different businesses accessible the place you may acquire agility and obedience titles with a blended breed canines. there became into an "casual" survey finished numerous months in the past with the help of AKC concerning the "threat" of giving all breed golf equipment and obedience golf equipment the alternative of allowing blended breeds to compete in overall performance activities... and that's all i will assert bearing directly to that difficulty. ETA: Animal artwork mentioned what i became into "attempting" to assert concerning the ILP...had a senior 2nd! LOL ETA#2: ok, you little thumbs down fairies, notice the asker became into asking approximately constrained REGISTRATION, not THE ILP application.....they are completely distinctive!
