I know the term teacup isnt right but I want a tiny one. I had one earlier in the year named Captain Jack. He was the best pup I ever had. Only 4 days of having him he got really sick. The vet had him put down as that was what was best for poor Jack. So that was what I had done. I really miss him and I hope the next one I get has a great personality like that little guy had. He will always have a spot in my heart. I have looked in papers and online like crazy and have come across what seems to be scams to me. They say the pup is free but I have to pay almost $200 to have it shipped. Thats when they post their ads for Ohio. I am not a breeder or have interest in breeding. I merely want one to ad to my family and spoil him. Thank you so much and Happy Holidays.

Yes, the 'free Yorkie you pay shipping' ads that you are seeing are just as you suspect--SCAMS! Most likely located in Camaroon/South Africa. A very well reknown scam within the Yorkie community.

Yes, you are correct--there is no such thing as a 'teacup' Yorkie. It's a marketing term used by unethical or uneducated breeders--you should steer clear of breeders who advertise their dogs as such at all costs.

My honest advice would be to focus more on obtaining a dog that is well bred, in good health, and a good representation of the breed standard instead of obsessing over size and supporting unethical breeders of so-called "teacups." Many reputable, honest breeders often have litters with smaller dogs in the 4 lb range. A better option would be to talk to find a good breeder who performs the proper health screening, promotes the breed standard and does not breed extremely small dogs for profit and ask if you could be put on a waiting list for a smaller pup.

As far as finding one--small or any other size--cheap or free...wishful thinking. (I personally want a Mercedes Benz cheap or free, but there just don't seem to be any around...) Bottom line is, a litter of pups is not cheap to raise. Breeders have to invest a lot of time and money into their programs and therefore try to cover their cost with the sale of pups that they don't hold back or implement into their own programs. I would question any 'cheap' dogs and wonder what corners the breeder cut in order to be able to let one go for that price.

I'm afraid to say, but if you have you are determined to obtain nothing other than a cheap/free tiny Yorkie, then you are likely on your way to the same heartbreak you experienced with your last one.

MOONDOG is right there is NO such thing as a "teacup" they are a toy breed all the small dogs like that are toys NOT teacups, backdoor breeders say that so you will pay more money for them. I read some replies saying that they are too small and they will break thats a lie I have a 3LB Chihuahua and he is a strong Lil guy he plays with my Pit Bull and he kicks her butt. Just be careful. Also you can try to find a Yorkie rescue shelter they have so many that needs a home and if you can afford to take care of a dog maybe you two could work a deal out, they are there to place dogs to good homes and if they think that you would be a good home who knows how much the adoption fee would be

The fact that your first teacup yorkie died after four days of having him proves that they are unhealthy. You bought an unhealthy runt. Don't make the same mistake and look for another one. I guarantee that it will die again, like the first one. I'm sorry to sound so harsh and I really do feel sorry for your loss, but you should be more careful when getting a pet next time. Don't just go for appearances and how other people advertise them.

I suggest that you do some research and decide on your breed. Stay clear away from teacup whatevers. Find your perfect breed, your perfect, HEALTHY dog and then you can spoil him and add him into your family.

OMG Never buy off the internet these are puppy mills and are only interested in making money. Only buy from a breeder if you visit there facility and meet the mom and dad of the pup and see there living conditions why would you buy from a breeder when there are thousands of pets being put down every year? In the chicago area ALONE there are 19,000 animals put down due to over crowding. Check out www.petfinder.com www.1800saveapet.com and www.pets911.com to find a shelter in your area.

You should of learned your lesson from captain jack. Seems like you didn't its a shame you also might want ot check out www.stoppuppymills.org

Know why he got sick? Because he was tiny and poorly bred. Why would you want to go through that again? Anyone selling an especially tiny Yorkie is, of course, scamming you.

Do your homework and if you're really going to get a dog, get a HEALTHY one.

Edit: Yeah, I have a small healthy dog. But I didn't try and find the cheapest dog possible and I wouldn't have gotten her from just anybody. I got her from a rescue and I'm not saying that's the only way to go, but if you're getting a dog from a breeder, make it a GOOD breeder who actually gives a **** about the dogs, not one who just cares about your wallet. These tiny dogs are susceptible to all kinds of illnesses due to the fact that they are bred and bred so they become small. Inbreeding is not good, and you are likely to find another dog that is sick this way. Go to a shelter or a yorkie rescue group! There are so many yorkies and dogs that need homes. Please do not support backyard breeders who are only interested in the money.

There is no such thing as a "teacup"

They are poorly breed runts! They will have LOTS of health problems!

Any "breeder" that is saying that they are "teacup" is not a good breeder, and it what we like to call either a BYB, or a puppy mill.

Well if you already had a "teacup" one and it died after 4 days, why would you do it again?

So your first "tiny teacup runt" died after 4 days.

Doesn't that tell you something.

They are unhealthy!!!

Yorkies are small enough without being made sickly and abnormally small.
