The sex of the dog doesn't really matter when it comes to how calm they are. All depends on the dogs personality, unless you plane to keep them intact which mean behavioral problem can arise in either sex. Really just look into a lower energy dog.

In my opinion, it makes no difference. Some entire dogs can be more of a handful than neutered ones, but with both genders nerutered I don't think it makes much difference. It depends which breed you have some breeds are calmer than others. Get a book on different breeds or borrow one from a library. Or look them up on the internet, to see which breeds are more suited to you. There are so many breeds it would take ages. Why not go along to your local animal rescue shelter. you will see different types of dogs and the staff should be very knowledgeable and helpful. If you see one you like and they think it may be suitable, you can take it for a walk round the shelter and you will see how good it is with people and other animals etc. Bear in mind though the dog may be a little different when you get it home, but you should have some idea. The dogs should be assessed before being put up for homing and the staff should be able to tell you how the dogs assessment was. Good Luck

It depends on the breed and specific dog more than the gender. As far as size goes at least females tend to be smaller than males. If you get the dog and want to keep it on the calmer side a good way to do that is good training and to spay/neuter it. Good Luck

I have 2 males, and they are much calmer than my1 female. I also know a lot of friends with dogs, in general the males tend to be calmer, especially once fixed.

I dont know about dogs in general but I have a small army of pugs and my males are bark less and are less aggressive. I would say they are more calmer if you get a male dog be sure he is neutered and that will help with calming him too

It depends, but if you get them fixed is better because they don't go crazy during summer. I had a girl dog and she used to be extra hyper, then I got a male dog and he was more gentle with kids but had to get him fixed because any chanced he got he would run up the street peeing on everyone's lawn. He was older and I adopted him. I think that dogs that are adopted apreciate people more and will be nicer if they didn't have huge issues to start with. It also depends on the breed and the dog itself. I've had girl and boy dogs from the same breed sometime and they had totally different personalities. I prefer boy dogs.

its not in the gender its in the personality. before bringing the dog home, spend some time with it. check the web also for different breeds. active dogs such as Dalmatians, and many Terriers might not be that great for you. remember that puppies tend to be wilder as they old they become calmer.

Animal Planet has a great dog selector that helps you find which breed is best. good luck!

The sex of the dog has nothing to do with it.. get the one whose personality is right for you.. if you want a calmer dog look into adopting an adult dog.

i have two females, and they are very hyper. i know a lady who has the brother to my puppy, and he is sooo calm i can't believe they came from the same litter. we had a male golden that was so sweet and calm. my experiences have been the boys are a little calmer than girls, but that doesn't mean everyone elses experiences are the same. just choose the pup/dog that comes to you and is not skitish. good luck.

I don't think the gender makes much differance I've had both and it really seems to vary with the individual dog but I have heard the breed can make a differance as different breeds have different traits

USUALLY a girl. I say usually. I had a girl dog who didn't sit still for 12 years straight, until she died of old age.

You might want to concentrate on breed, not gender. Golden retrievers tend to be very gentle and calm(er) than other breeds. Do some reading on different breeds - websites abound!

Boy canines tend to run off greater beneficial than woman canines. I definitely have a boy and a woman dogs. My woman is 12 years previous and is 0.5 German shephard and 0.5 Alaskan Timberwolf her call is Cheyenne. My boys is 4 years previous and is dalmation, hound and beagle. His call is Scooby. Cheyenne ( the girl ) enjoyed to cuddle while she became right into a doggy. She nonetheless likes to cuddle yet sometimes she somewhat lay in the midst of the floor and do her own element. She should be close to human beings nonetheless , she would not opt to be on my own. She became into shot while she became into 3 so after that , she became into form of hesitant to cuddle with different people who did no longer stay along with her and to her weren't aside of the "%.." Scooby ( the boy ) is a toddler , he's routy and likes to cuddle lots. the only draw back to him is we had to get him a marvel collar because of the fact he won't hear and he runs off. additionally boy canines tend to run off greater beneficial than woman canines and that they may well be harder to coach reckoning on the breed. each and each dogs is distinctive and has their own character , in case you get a woman dogs or a boy dogs as a doggy and cuddle with them , that's what they are going to be use to. consequently they are going to be a cuddler , and in case you do no longer cuddle with them as a doggy they won't be a cuddler. i'm particular they won't suggestions in case you do cuddle with them , it in basic terms in basic terms isn't something they're very use to. needless to say all canines cuddle , because of the fact is an indication of love some coach greater affection than others , like human beings.

Females are usually easier to get along with and don't wander so much. If you wonder, look at the listings on www.petfinder.com and at your local shelter. You'll find a disproportionate number of males needing homes.

Good luck!

I have had lots of dogs of both sexes and it didn't matter. It depended on the individual dog. One tip - get your dog spayed or neutered - they are less likely to run off or break loose to chase members of the opposite sex and mate.

Depends entirely on the individual dog, you cannot generalize between the sexes like that.

A girl is WAY calmer, especially if you get a golden retriever. Plus, they are REALLY sweet and loyal. (I've had 2 female golden retrievers.)

It's really your opinion! But it seems to me that males are more high strung and females have more of an additude.

I prefer the males...they don't seem to be as independent and they are more loving. Girls are always off doing their own thing.

Neither can be more hyper thanthe other but take it from me, MALE dogs WANDER!!! I have three and they dont mean it but they just wander away with out realizing it ...
