But I dont think they have a good life we dont give them walks insted we let them play in are 100 foot garden so what shall we do give them to another family or keep them?

If you love your dogs you'll give them to someone who can care for them.

Hello

You do not say what sort of dogs they are? The bigger the dog and breed normally mean the more exercise they need. the fact that they are in a cage at the moment means that you can wait and make sure they will go to good homes when you can find them. You say we so why can't the other half take them for a good walk without you? Have you tried short exposure therapy where you literally go in with them for 30 Secs a day and slowly build up the time and hopefully you will build up your intolerance to dogs. As long as you wore gloves and do not let them jump up on you I would have thought that if your other half got them ready and held the leads you would at least be able to walk with them out side especially on windy and wet days.

If you keep them in cages all day and your other half is not prepared to take them for the good long walks and play in the parks then yes you should get rid of them. If your other half showers every day then can they not play with the dogs during the evening giving the needed contact then have the daily shower in which case you would then be able to touch the other half after-wards.

Doesn't sound like much of a life to me. However, you will have to decide whether they are better living the way they do (if you can't sort out your allergies and provide a proper life for them - it can be done btw ) or going through the upheaval of going to a new home (together? - they will miss each other if they've been living together like this and have to be separated, which might be the case as people don't necessarily want to take on two).

Obviously keeping two dogs penned all the time is far from a good life. But going back to the allergies - is that perhaps just an excuse? My husband has asthma and is, according to tests, very allergic to our hounds but he's lived for over 36 years with them, with no symptoms whatsoever. Get yourself to your GP and see whether something can be done about your 'allergies'.

Are your allergies that severe to the point that you can't just take a pill? If this is the way they are going to live, then yes getting rid of them is the best option. Part of being a good pet owner is putting an animal's well being above your own selfish wants ( I don't mean selfish in a mean way). You can either find a breed specific rescue, or a find a local rescue that would be willing to adopt them together if they are bonded. Or of course you could take them to your local animal shelter, but please if you take them to a shelter make sure it is a no kill shelter.

if th dogs are in a pen all the time that's not fair but having a 100ft garden for them to play sounds good .if you are going to get rid of them MAKE SURE that you tell new owners as the dogs wont be used to leads

It really depends on your degree of allergy. If you are severely allergic you should find a nice home for them. But if it is relatively (self evaluation) mild keep the dogs but work the contact with them slowly. I was allergic to dogs but after having dogs and working up my tolerance with them I now have no issues. I took a bit of time but I love my puppy (pomeranian). Its really your call but keep that in mind. Good Luck!

I know it sounds weird... But picture yourself being confined to just your house... It's not a happy life

A dog have feelings. It needs someone to give it belly rubs and walk them

Don't take them to the pound for they might kill your pets but simply upload some pics of them on the webs and put them up for doggy adoption

Happiness is a funny concept. They are dogs. I doubt they crave the same things as us; playing all day in a 100 foot garden might be a lot of fun for them.

Are they happy? Or do they mooch about? Are they a part of the family? How would the children feel if they went?

If you want to make their life better you can get heaters for the pen for colder weather, or bigger pens and more toys.

The answer, only get rid if they are unhappy and you can't make their lives better.

I had a vet who was allergic to dogs, it is one of the common excuses used for handing dogs into rescue.

They cannot be walked because?

You say 'I am allurgic' (allergic), but then 'we dont give them walks' who are we? why can't the others in your household take care of the dogs needs?

its your desision but NEVER!! I MEAN NEVER EVER bring them 2 a shelter cuz at a shelter they give each dog usually 1 week to find a home and if they dont get a home they put them down.

Please give these dogs a happier life. If you can't do it yourself then find someone who can. Do you even play with them or do you just expect them to entertain themselves? Do they have toys? If dogs are left to entertain themselves they usually just end up lying around doing nothing. You say you love them but actions speak louder than words...

If you love your dogs give them to somewon that will care for them and love them.DO NOT bring them to the shelter take the time to find a good home for them

Yes because dogs need a home were they can be cuddled and loved in a warm home! DON'T bring them to the shelter please they will probably never find a home.

If you want to, If you love them enough, you should let them go and live a happy free life.

P.S. You don't say "Should we get rid of are dogs?" You say "Should we get rid of our dogs?"

If you can find them a good place do it because if you really wanted them you wouldn't be asking this question.
