Hi everyone. My dog just ate Vicks Vapo Rub, or like tared it apart. Would she die or get sick or something??????

P.S I'm the girl who had her dog eat baseball/football ink stuff.

Vicks will not hurt your dog unless it eats a 5-gallon pail of it. My Basset hound, who is three years old, loves the stuff and will lick it until either the Vicks is gone or I have lost two layers of skin. We also had a 19-year-old cat who thought the stuff was caviar! Our vet says that Vicks will not hurt an animal in small quantities, but we shouldn't let our animals lick it on a regular basis or give it to them by spoonsful. Since I had no plans of doing that, the jar of Vicks has survived and so has our Basset.

Bottom line, your dog is not going to die from this, and probably won't even get sick.

My vet told me to use vicks vapor rub on my dogs leg to prevent him from licking it so I don't think it can be too harmful. She may get an upset stomach and maybe some runs. You can call the emergency clinic and ask them, but I'd just keep an eye on her tonight and see how she acts. If you start to notice any wierd behavior, then call emregency again or take her in.

Well I dont know about that. Im pretty sure she wont die but she might get sick, just keep watch on her . Keep your vet's number handy just in case.

Also, Your dog seems to be getting into alot of potentially hazardous materials. I think you might want check around the house for anything else she is likely to get into and put those things up and away from her reach.

Prevent things like this from happening in the future, please.

She could. Get her to the vet ASAP. And you REAlly need to remember ALwaYS that pets are like children and you have to be a lot more responsible in leaving items/products around.

Call the vet and keep your dog out of harms way. Put your stuff away already.
