Question:
Go Fund Me question?

I'm in a bit of a pinch and was thinking about setting up a go fund me page. But I don't wanna do it if people are gonna be like...mean to me

Both my dogs need surgeries for 2 very different things. In total, for both, it's going to cost me roughly $3000. I have about 1/2 saved up so far....

Would it be wrong of me to see if I can get some help with that other half? I've been working so hard and it will kill our family if we can't help our furbabies in pain.

I see people post stuff like "help me fund my honeymoon" so I didn't think asking for help with my dogs surgery would be bad?

Why not just use CareCredit Vet. They will pay the Vet bill & you make payments to them. Easy. I qualified in the Vets office in about 5minutes on the phone, gave the card # to the Vet & the bill was paid. The payments are very reasonable & easy

A go fund me page is deserving if you have a financial problem due to no fault of your own.

-e.g. somebody made it impossible for you to maintain a savings account or a recent unforeseen disaster already deplete your savings account (e.g. your house burned down and you need now to buy a lot of things)

- your family/friends are unable to assist you with a loan or a gift.

- you cannot get a bank loan or use care credit (you need to disclose why and it shouldn't have been because you maxed out all your credit cards on bar bills).

- you provide a statement by the vet what is needed and why and how soon it is needed, the vet should be named so people can check with the vet. It would be better to set the page up so the money goes to the vet, not you.

- you need to be comfortable to disclose quite an amount of personal data so people know it is not an internet scam. Unfortunately for those who really need assistance scams are spoiling it for them.

If you could get credit, but just rather wouldn't pay it back, because you still need to pay for this brand new ferrari you bought two years ago, then why should anybody sponsor you? The few times I've looked at fund-me pages I was left with the feeling, why the hell would I pay a strangers bill if they aren't even capable to give me a compelling reason?

I've seen people discussing setting up pages for stray dogs so the shelter doesn't put them down, which I think is a legitimate reason since the dog isn't owned by anybody. But then go fund me charges an decent amount and generally people agreed it made more sense to solicit money going directly to a vet via social media. That might be an option for you.

Do what you need to do to raise money. If that means making a go fund me then do it. It's your dog, do whatever you need to care for your dog.

In my own opinion, if you can't afford to support your dogs medical needs you don't need to have them.

And why should complete strangers pay for something that is your responsilibity.

If your child needed surgery would beg for money to pay for it.

Get a second job, sell some things, borrow money from relitives.

Or here is the best one,,, take the dog to the closest shelter and turn them in, they will get the medical care they need and new homes with owners who care for them.

Is wrong? No.

Will strangers believe your story and want to help? Probably not most but you might get lucky.

You will have to promote your own GoFundMe page on your own social media accounts. Will your friends/family think it's tacky? Many yes, but you may get some who personally know your situation who truly want to help.

You can set up a gofundme but be prepared to be disappointed. It's very rare for people to donate to you if you don't know them unless you have some sort of outside advertising. People aren't surfing the site to find people to donate to.

I'm torn. They are YOUR dogs and YOUR responsibility and you should be able to afford whatever happens. This is one of the biggest reasons why dogs are given up: people cannot afford them.

They are precious lives and precious to you, but honestly, begging for money on something that is YOUR responsibility rubs me the wrong way.

Stop e-begging and pay for the vet bills yourself. No one will pay for your vet bills. So stop being lazy.

Have the dogs put down

Get Care Credit

Sell things

Pawn things

Have on dog put down and pay for the surgery on the other

YOUR dogs. YOUR responsibility. YOUR vet bills. Suck it up and payfor the vet bills of have the dogs pit down

Do you have a credit card? Put the bill on that, you can pay it off in installments.

It's my personal opinion that your dogs ARE AN IMPORTANT cause. As you have already noticed many frivolous requests out there. I truly hope all works out Bless!
