We need some pug name ideas?

We want to find a good name for our new pug. It is for his paperwork, as well as a call name. I don't want anything too silly, or anything a human would answer to. Our kids are little, so the call name needs to be easy to pronounce. Thanks.

Your call name can be anything you want. Most AKC registered dogs involve the breeder's kennel name as part of their registered name. On AKC registration papers you cannot use the name of a living person without written permission. Also names sometimes refer back to the sire or dam. Our first pug was out of Ch. Wiselore's You Ought-ta Know Who, her registered name was Wiselore's Cindy Lou Who. We called her Cindy. Wiselore's Star Fire was called Sunny, and Pinion's Class Clown was called Buster.



I never feel in a rush to name a new puppy immediately. Their call name can be based on some physical feature, their personality, or color, etc. Usually call names should be simple, one or two syllables. Human names aren't bad, except when my daughter was talking in school about Cindy this and Cindy that, one friend asked her if her mother favored Cindy. My daughter replied "Yes." I still smile when remembering that incident.



Enjoy your new pug and don't feel that you must be in a tearing hurry to name it.

Well I have had 6 pugs, currently 5 at the moment and their names are Mickey, PJ, Geisha, Minnie, & Mediva Not to mention Pugzy.
