Does anyone elses dog eat vegetables/fruit?

My dogs eat baby carrots and apples all the time, my golden retriever can eat 30 of them at a time. Usually i just give him ten or twenty a day. My little dog loves them too. It is funny when they fight over carots. When i give them a regular long carot they put it between their paws and eat it like a bone.
When i tell people my dogs love fruits/veggies as treats they give me this weird look and can't believe that my dogs eat that because their dogs will not get fruits/veggies.

My dog has a carrot (regular size) every day - she loves it and it's good for her teeth. She gets excited when I say the word!



I also occasionally give her apples and strawberries and she has peas in her regular food.

All the dogs I have had like fruits and vegetables to some degree. They have all liked apples and carrots. A couple have liked bananas (the others didn't seem to know what to do with them). I would be careful on how many you feed them because of the fiber could affect their digestive track.



Edit: Dog's diets are not the same as humans. Some fruit and vegetables are good for them, but they still should get mostly meat. Grains are not generally good for dogs. Their digestive systems to not handle grains well, especially corn and wheat.

My dog will eat anything. Once she had an apple and threw up, so I stay away from those and fruits and vegetables in general. My dog has a really weak stomach and always gets the runs. The person we bought the dog from told us we couldn't give her any table food at all. I recomend you just stick to normal dog food and even though it's tempting, try not to give your dog table food. :)

Veggies are great! Most dogs don't like fruit as well as they like veggies, but there's no harm. And TONS of dogs like veggies!



Dogs don't digest and extract nutrients from fruits and veggies the way people do, mostly it's non-digestible filler. But it's also a healthy snack and there's absolutely no harm.



So go ahead and feed the fruits and veggies! This is a welcome break from hearing all day how patients of mine who are obscenely obese just LOOVE thier cheese, steak, hamburger, etc.

Dogs need the same basic diet as you do. Protein, fiber, etc. A homemade chicken noodle soup is one of the best things you can feed your dog (chicken, carrots, rice, wheat, celery, etc). Keep them away from processed foods, but if you can grow it on a farm (some exceptions apply) it's most likely good for them.

My dogs will sometimes eat okra, or potato's that have been in stew. They do not eat a diet of only veg tables. I would check with your vet to make sure that is good for your dogs.

ya my dogs eat carrots all the time, they like them more than treats. We also give them other fruits and vegetables, like apples, but just make sure you don't give them grapes, because they're bad for them!

Normally dogs dont eat fruit n veg. Its weird...if i just give my dog like a grape or carrot or somat, he'll turn his nose up at me. But if my Dad (the Dogs 'master') gives him a grape, he'll eat it. He eats anything my Dad gives him, just because its my Dad?! lol

Mine all love fruit & veggies, raw and cooked! Potatoes, carrots, apples, nectarines, bananas, peas, watermelon, raw cabbage, broccoli... they love it!

we had to put an electric fence around our garden to keep the veggie snatchers out of it! all 3 of my dogs love veggies but the little girl is very picky about her veggies...lol
