this could be a lot of different things and only a vet can accurately diagnose her. i suggest taking her in right away, especially if she keeps having vomiting and diarrhea. good luck and hope she feels better soon

ok there could be a few things in order to diagnose parvo you will smell a very foul almost mettalic smell and the dog will be very dehydrated. if you pinch the dogs scruff and it stays like that and does not snap back into place then it is a good sign of parvo. another sympton is if the dog is not eating or drinking then it also a good sign but if the dog is eating then there is another issue and you are most likely safe from parvo. also how old is the dog if the puppy is over 8 months than parvo is not a serious threat. but if this all applies then asap get you dog drinking pedialyte or gatorade because parvo attack the body's natural osmosis process and removes all electrolytes from the dogs body not allowing it to produce enough. the drinks will help keep the dog stable until a vet can see it. THIS WILL NOT CURE PARVO! parvo is a 48 hour deal and you will know within that time period if the dog will make it or not. alos another tip i forgot to mention is since osmosis cannot happen in the puppy the fluids that are normally distributed throughout the puppys body cannot because parvo stops this process so the fluid begins to pool up causing the feet jowls and tail to swell and be full of fluid. so if those are swelling it could be parvo. now on the lighter side if honestly i know you are scared but if your dog is honestly not suffering from alot of those symptoms then it could be an internal parasite called coccida which is not lifethreatning. it is just a very aggressive parasite that eats and tears away at teh digestive lining and can cause the dog to have bloody stool and throw up and if the dog has an empty or somewhat empty stomach then it will throw up a bile or yellow mucasy liquid. oh i also remembered a good way to tell for parvo is teh puppy will want to sleep alot adn have a very distant and cloudy look in its eyes. i really hope this could help you and i will re-post other ways for you to help your puppy if you; can tell me more about the symptoms of your puppy. noone should have to lose a puppy so let me know :)

Either one of these could be a symptom of just about anything. Together, they could be symptoms of several things.

So let's see... best case scenario is that it's something transient that'll pass and everything'll be okay.

Or it's colon cancer that has occluded her intestines, thus keeping things from passing (hence the vomit, she feels bad), and may have ruptured and bled, thus causing the blood in her stool.

Go to the Vet. Get it diagnosed.

The first thing that comes to mind is parvo. Did it have a foul odor? Parvo is a very fatal virus. You should get your pet to a vet asap. Symptoms of parvo include weakness, lethargy and after a few days to weeks, it causes vomiting, lack of appetite, very high fever and foul smelling diarrhea often with blood and tissue.

If your dogs stops the intake of food and refuses any liquid and has diarrhea with vomiting... and the diarrhea will have a distinct unpleasant odor about it... then you could be looking at a case of Parvo...

SO

call the VET NOW... as Parvo moves quickly and is deadly.

Forget the ignorant comments about Parvo virus; the symptoms are not even consistent with it.

I've just gone through that with my dog and she was hospitalized twice within a week. She had eaten a bone (don't know where she got it). First she passed blood and was vomiting then she got an intestinal blockage. The vet said that when a dog eats bones they set up like bagged concrete mix in their intestines. My dog needed IV fluids, antibiotics, and worst of all 6 enemas and even that didn't get the job done. I carried her home from the hospital and she was there 24 hours and had to go back again because she still had the same intestinal blockage.

While it wasn't caused by the bones, the Vet also discovered that she had Cushing's disease which enlarges the liver, causes the dog to over produce salt, and have diabetes. Right now I'm giving my dog chemotheraphy twice a day for the Cushing's disease; am also giving 2 injections of insulin twice a day to control the diabetes. The Vet said that, once the chemo reduces the gland that's causing too much salt and other out of control hormones, the diabetes will probably go away.

Your dog's stools will probably look like mucus or colitis if she has eaten something that's causing the intestines to bleed. I would recommend that you take her to the Vet and make sure she will be okay.

Blood In Stool After Running

This is the time of year when tapeworms are all over! I see a lot of frightening answers from others, but hopefully your dog just has a tapeworm. Easy to fix with a visit to the vet... just look around your dog's bedding for little sesame seed looking things, and if you see some, then you can feel comforted to know your vet can easily fix this. Take a piece of tape and touch it to some and and take it in to the vet. A stool sample will help no matter what. Take the dog in to the vet so you get some answers. A urine looking vomit is most likely bile, and that could mean anything from an irritated tummy to liver problems. Don't be nervous... just get some help from a good vet and everything will be better.

Assuming the dog has had it's vaccinations it should not be the Parvo virus which is the worst possible reason for a dog to have blood in it's stool. It is very catchy and is almost always deadly.

It makes them not eat or drink and they die from dehydration. If the shots have been up to date it may be the dog has eaten something that is not food, may have a blockage or may have a very bad case of something that the vet needs to see it for. I hope it isn't the Parvo virus....if caught really early they can sometimes save them but it costs a lot of money for IV and care at the animal hospital. Good luck. Miss Mary

If you are running sprint dogs the feeding schedule ought to be quite different from a distance team. Arleigh Reynolds talked about this at the last symposium in Fairbanks. You should be feeding 23 hours before running. Bait water with the minimal amount of food to have the dog drink.

The premiss is that a dog running 20 mph is working much harder than the 12-miles per hour seen in longer distance dogs.

To keep his very long talk short - keeping the intestines clear of food/stool will avoid cecal slap which causes bloody stool to appear after running. Additionally, A sprint dog works so hard that the blood flow to the intestines shunts away while running and any food/stool will be evacuated quickly causing diarrhea (often seen streaked with blood)

So if you are running sprint feeding 4 hours before the run would not be ideal.

there could be a number of reasons for blood in the stool.

stress

parasites

to name a few.

I had a dog that had blood in his stool. Vet could not figure it out. Finally did a blood work. He had an elevated white blood count. They were leaning toward some sort of cancer. Turned out to be an infection. The vet put him on mega anti-biotics and he is fine.

blood in the stool along with the vomiting are big concerns. it's true you'd need a vet to get the right diagnosis and treatment because there are so many serious things that could cause this from parasites to parvo, pacreatitis, gastro-intestinal illnesses, something the dog ate that might have pierced something inside of her..too many possibilities and finding the real cause, via a professional, is the only way to treat the dog successfully without unnecessary risk. If finances are a concern, try calling your local animal control office or SPCA and ask about local lower cost clinics. In my area, I found excellent Vets in an office where there treatments are lower cost and very high quality. Older office with great Vets, GREAT pricing. GL with finding good care for your dog.

Get to an emergency vet.

An upper GI tract bleed will show up as black stool, if the blood is still red then it's a lower GI tract bleed. It could be an obstruction or a puncture of the intestine, or who knows what else, but it could be something very serious. The combination of this with symptoms on the other end of the dog make it even more concerning. An obstruction can be deadly quickly, consult an emergency vet instead of waiting until Monday.

If your dog is not fully vaccinated, senior, or a very young puppy she may have Parvo. Parvo is a very serious virus that attacks the puppy's intestinal lining which causes diarrhea and bloody stools as well as suppression of the animals white blood cells. Depending on the initial health of the animal and the strain of the virus he or she has, the outcome of survival is about 50/50. The best bet is to take the animal to the vet for IVs with antibiotics and fluids to help keep the animal hydrated and to help fend off the illness.

As most of the other answers have said, there could be a number of reasons for this. How old is your dog? Is she up to date on all of her vaccinations? Was the blood in her stool red or was it black? Did it have an abnormal odor? Was it a solid stool or diarrhea? Has she done this multiple times?

In my experience, if your dog is not up-to-date on her vaccinations and the stool is black (internal blood) diarrhea and she continues to vomit, these are strong symptoms of parvo.

If the blood was red, however, and the stool was loose, or even solid, and she has thrown up it could be symptoms of pancreatitis, often caused by feeding table scraps.

I would definitely recommend you watch her, keep her well hydrated and take her to a veterinarian immediately if symptoms don't dissipate.

Good luck :-)

When my dog was a puppy she did the same thing. I took her to the vet the morning it started, turns out she just ate something that didn't agree with her or something that scratched going down to her stomach. The vet told me they were also symptoms of parvo, so we had her checked for that as well. My mom has a dog that had blood in his stool for a few days, no vomitting though. He had Coccidia. Depending on what it is, it can be fatal if you don't know for sure.

Wow. That sounds major. It could be a severe disease called parvo. Its a disease that somewhat liquefies your dog internal organs from what I understand. Its very serious if not treated soon enough. If your dog has a loss in appetite than get him to a vet ASAP. Thats why its important for your dog to get its shots every so often. Once a year I believe.

Sometimes dogs eat things also that may make them have diarrhoea or vomit liquid. My dog tends to eat grass which is fine, but too much and he vomits up a green liquid. My vet said its just the grass he's already consumed. But none the less, have your dog checked out as soon as possible.
2008-07-20 18:40:15 UTC
If there is blood in the stool, then there is bleeding in the intestines. Are you sure it was blood and not black tary stool, known as melena? Blood in the stool can be a symptom of many different things. In older pets the concern of cancer comes to mind. It could be a dietary intolerance or allergy. It could also be inflammatory bowel disease or colitis. There are many other problems of the bowel or the colon. Is your dog straining to defecate? Is there any noticable weight loss? You should have your vet do a complete blood count.

sounds like it could be a virus. It could also be parasites (more than likely hookworms), make sure your dog is dewormed on a regular basis. The yellow your dog is throwing up is stomach acid (bile). These two symptoms together im afraid arent something you want to be waiting on to get better. This could very well be parvo. Parvo is a deadly virus that attacks the intestines. Watch for runny stool with blood, and blood in the vomit. The vomit could also be black in color. I wouldnt wait any longer on this, your dog needs to see a vet as soon as possible.

Well it is very possible that your dog MIGHT have internal bleeding. Im def. not a vet but i worked in a vet hospital for like 6 months. It also can just be stress was is frank blood? Frank blood is bright red which means its more likley its internal bleeding. If it was darker i wouldnt really worry about it. Watch her for a couple days and maybe pick her up a can of r/d it helps then poo lol so it will hopefully get whatever is making her sick. Puke can also be from stress or even eating food to fast. Watch her for about a day or so, if its still bloody and pukey then take her to a vet right away!

Hope this helps!

Beginning signs of Parvo is the extreme. Usually their digestive system isn't working quite right. Call a vet and tell them the symptoms. They will know exactly what to do. Our cocker spaniel has a lot of digestive problems because during her life span she has gotten into foods she shouldn't like grapes and chocolate. She has blood in her stool and will gag up a yellow substance sometimes, but usually we give her some grass in her food, or celery and stuff like that and she is good again. Make sure you get plenty of water in your pup as well. Good luck.

That is exactly what my dog is having right now. shes pucking up yellow liquid and has bloody stools. It might be something she ate cuz thats what happened with my dog. She ate ALOT of turkey. i didnt know it till it was gone. A rapid change in a dogs eating habit can cause pucking and diharrea. If its not that it could be parvo or an intestinal parisite. I would take it to the vet as soon as you can. im taking my dog into the vet as well. hope everything is fine and good luck!!!!!!!!

that is 100 percent signs of Parvo...sadly if they start having blood in their stools the chances of them recovering are slim to none..being it eats away at their internal organs and even if they seem to get better anything they eat will seap into their body and cause infection which will kill them if the parvo doesn't... you need to make sure the dog stays fully hydrated even if you have to nurse her...every 15 min give her at least a tablespoon of water if you do this we have had two puppies pull out of it but once there is blood in the stool that is usually a sign that the fight will soon be over...you can however take your dog to the vet and see if they can help you....i have never had any luck with the vets around here....we have saved two puppies with parvo our local vet has saved zero and ended up with a $2000.00 vet bill for each pup...but you need to call them NOW and set up an appointment anyways even if they just talk to you and tell you what to do at home....its better than nothing

Dogs will eat just about anything! If he is outside some of the time it is not unlikely he may have chewed up a tree branch or something hard or sharp!

Also...giving a dog bones is not always a good idea unless they are very big and solid! They can break off in sharp pieces too!

Most important...Take him to a vet right away! bring a sample of his dog do with you so the vet can look at it!

Hope this helps

The yellow liquid was bile. It basically means she's vomitting with an empty stomach. The blood in the stool could be lots of things... Parvo being probably the worst. Could she have a foreign body in her? Does she eat things she shouldn't, like toys or shoes or garbage? Could she have gotten any rat poison? Even if you don't have it, I've heard of dogs eating it while out on walks. There are lots of other reasons, some completely benign and easy to fix, others that are super serious. You DEFINITELY should make a trip to the vet.

If he has been looseing alot of weight and is lathargic then he Most likely he has Parvo and if you don't get him to a vet then he will die. When a dog has parvo and they are at the point of blood in the stool there is very little time left. Most vets will work with you on payments if thats why your asking the yahoo group and not taking him to the vet. Get your dog to a vet.

Those are symptoms of parvo is she is also having diarrhea, not eating and being lethargic. If she has had all her vaccines, then she may have gotten into something that has upset her stomach. If she's a puppy or hasnt had her vaccines, then take her to the vet to rule out parvo. If she is an adult dog WITH vaccines, then take her if she doesn't get better. Sometimes blood can be in the stool if she ate something that has given her diarrhea and her bowels are inflamed.

The vomit sounds like stomach acid. But the blood in the stool is something to be concerned about. Don't give her anything for the vomiting, it could make the condition worse. If she vomits more you should call an emergency vet clinic. But this can probably wait until tomorrow so you can see your normal vet. But do take her to a vet tomorrow.

I had hemorrhoids problems for different years. I was basically simply excessively embarrassed to go to a doctor or to the pharmacy to request a hemorrhoid treatment. At last I went to a doctor that tried to do everything in her power to help me, yet unfortunately the prescription didn't work. Surgery was impossible! By then, I was powerless, embarrassed and with just about no social life, so I've chosen to try something else. Then I discovered this method: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info I purchased this book on the most proficient method to dispose of hemorrhoids naturally notice it helped me a great deal! I don't feel torment anymore! I wish I had it years before. I can't accept how rapidly I got relief (just about overnight!) they've never returned and I don't worry about it anymore in light of the fact that on the off chance that they do, I know precisely what to do. After reading the book and making a move in 48 hours the ache, irritation, tingling and draining was gone. To my surprise I could permanently cure my hemorrhoids 100% naturally. Hemorrhoids are fundamentally engorged veins. The veins return the blood to the heart and those from the lower parts of the body work against gravity to push blood again to the heart. At the point when the blood becomes thicker because of one's absence of water admission, the blood gets pooled in the veins in light of the fact that blood is more hard to stream. This makes them get engorged and become bigger. On the off chance that this happens in the rectal area, it becomes hemorrhoids. I can assure you that I tackled my hemorroids problems with this system: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info It's definitly the most ideal approach to effectively dispose of hemorreoids.

Blood in stool can be due to stress. The yellowish color see in the vomit can be bile. Parvo is more common with puppies however if this is an older pet this could be an upset stomach and stress that has caused blood in the stool. I would recommend see a veterinarian.Other causes can be intestinal parasites, but you need to see the veterinarian to test the feces for intestinal parasites. I would recommend bring a fecal sample into the veterinarian so they can see it physically and if they want to run test on it.

It could be a lot of different of different things, but none of them are good. Usually it is a sign of some kind of parasite being in your dog and it needs treatment asap. Alto of different kind of worms such as hook or round has a symptom of bloody stool, but you can not be sure unless you take them to a vet. I would do this as soon as you so that the condition does not get worse and your dog does not suffer. Good luck!!!

Dogs get stressed colons. But the liquid from the stomach might mean the dog has no food in its stomach. Matched with the blood, it could be very serious. Take it to a vet immediately.

I am sooo sorry, but these are very clear symptoms of PARVO..

How old is your dog ? Adult ? Puppy ? Elderly ?

If your dog is an adult, then a trip to the vet and some meds will cure her just fine...She'll get really sick, but she'll get over it...

If she's a young pup, or elderly, the odds aren't so good...She'll need extreme vet help to save her life...

The upside ? Once a dog survives parvo, her immune system won't let her get it again...Not THAT strain anyway...And she'll be better able to fight off the virus even if she comes across another strain...

Please get her to the vet ASAP. Her life depends on it..Good luck !

Only a vet can know for sure, but my dog once threw up yellow bile, and had blood in the stool, and it was because he had eaten a bone, which broke up and fragmented, tearing the intestinal wall. He is fine now...but the bone had to 'pass through' first.

Your dog could have swallowed a sharp pointed object that is lodged in the Intestional tract, this can cause a perforation and possibily an obstruction. Vomiting can be a sign of obstruction. Yo should take your dog to a vet to be examined and have an Xray taken. Good luck hope it is a minor problem .

It could be something very serious. Better see the vet.

Blood in the stool by itself could be merely a hemorrhoid, pretty harmless. But with the vomiting, it scares me to death. Warn the vet of the symptoms before you go in, as they may want you to bring the animal in by a separate entrance from the others.

How old is the dog? What food does the dog eat? What treats and other dogs has she been exposed to? Has she been dewormed?

Have all of the answers to these questions answered in your head and take her to the vet! Until you get to the vet you could give her 1/4 a can of pumpkin or 1/4c of yogurt [plain, with active cultures] to help with her digestive problems. If she's a small breed just give her 1tbl spoon.

the symtoms are sadly Parvo! It is deadly to animals and humans! Take it to the vets STAT and if you have any other pets keep them away from her! Early symptoms are depression, loss of appetite, vomiting, high fever, and severe diarrhea. Feces can be either grayish or fluid and bloody. Rapid dehydration is a danger, and dogs may continue to vomit and have diarrhea until they die, usually three days after onset of symptoms. Others may recover without complications and have no long-term problems. Puppies can die suddenly of shock as early as two days into the illness. another thing I can help with if you dont understand that is this, The Symptoms of Parvo

Parvovirus disease is remarkable in that symptoms can vary from none at all to a fatal disease. Four factors govern the severity of the disease: age at exposure, the size of the virus dose, the presence of maternal antibody, and the breed of dog involved.

Dogs receive transient maternal antibody from their mothers through their first milk or colostrum. This antibody gives the puppy resistance to the disease. Puppies that are housed in a parvo-filled environment rarely break with the disease until they reach 14-20 weeks of age. At that time their mother’s immunity no longer protects them and they may die of the disease.

Dogs over six month of age develop natural resistance to the effects of parvovirus. Many of these dogs show only transient diarrhea. By the time the dog reaches one or two years of age the disease can be so mild that it passes unnoticed by the owners.

For unknown reasons, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and Pit Bull Terriers become more ill with this disease than other breeds.

What kind of dog do you have? We just went thru a period of this with our dog. Found out he has ulcerative colitis. His intestinal trac does not consume food properly. He is now on a strict diet dog food. Limit her food intake, small amounts at a time and increase water. Don't let her get dehydrated. We even got an eye dropper and forced water. It could be a number of things but, I would highly suggest a vet visit. I hope she is ok and it is nothing serious. We had ours in the vet hosp. for 3 days and then he would come home and back in again. Seemed like it would never end. Finally he is getting back to himself. We love our fur friends and I know it is hard when they are sick....

sounds like either bad food, bones can sometimes do this. or have you any baits for rats etc around? no food. and water available- but not forced- for 24 hours( if bait is possible , VET first). keep warm, not hot, and check the gum colour! pale with slow blood return is time to go to vet. overly bright, red is also a worry. any sign of distension (swelling to stomach), biting, licking at tummy is also an indicator of twisted bowel also called bloat. it can be fatal.

is the dog old or young, ageing animal could be liver issues side effects too. though the blood is not usual with that, more mucous in stool is.

one of mine did this 2 x in a matter of months, lots of blood and scared me badly, he is fine, just a baaad belly ache from a baaad bone. and a bit sensitive for a month or so afterwards. plain yoghurt, is always good afer any tummy upsets as is plain boiled rice water, and maybe some of the rice, as the appetite returns.

Take her to vet real quick. and i say quick not because it's really dangerous or anything. it's just that in case it's anything vital, they'll be able to solve it before it gets worse.

Does your dog have diarrhoea? In life-threatening diarrhoea the animal is usually systemically ill and will exhibit clinical signs which include persistent vomiting, marked dehydration, abdominal pain, anorexia and the passage of faeces which may contain blood. Any animal exhibiting these signs should be examined by a veterinarian ASAP. Aggressive therapy is needed if the animal is to be saved. Intensive intravenous fluid therapy as well as antibiotics and nil by mouth may be followed by the use of oral and anti-diarrhoeal drugs once vomiting stops.

Colitis is another common cause of chronic diarrhoea, especially in dogs. Weight loss is not a feature of colitis but straining to pass faeces, urgency and the passing of faeces containing blood and/or mucus are common. Treatment involves the use of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and dietary correction.

This is all symptomatic of the dog having eaten something which hasn't agreed with her. Check back and try to remember if she has had anything different from her normal diet within the last 24 hours, i.e. fatty treats like Pigs ears or rawhides or any spicy human food. These can all cause colitis (inflammation of the bowel) and damage the intestines.

I would advise starving her for 24 hours to allow the gut to settle then give her three small meals of plain cooked chicken or boiled fish with rice. Do this for two days and then you can gradually re-introduce her normal food.

During the starvation period you can give her Natural Bio Yoghurt to stave off the hunger pangs. This will not harm her and it will actually help to settle her digestive system.

Also make sure she is drinking plenty of water to stop her getting dehydrated.

If she hasn't improved after that then you must take her to see your Vet but I am sure she will be fine.

If it was Parvo she would be very lethargic, have foul smelling diarrhoea and be vomitting continuously . If this was the case I would advise that you get her seen by a Vet immediately.

I hope she makes a good recovery.

Has your dog been vaccinated against Parvo?

Parvo is a very very contagious virus that can and does kill dogs.

I'm not one to run to the vet if there is something I can do for my dogs here at home BUT you really need to get that dog to the vet if you haven't already.

blood is not a good thing of course. It can be due to serious things or just iritation. Either way it is omething that should be checked with a vet, especially because of the vomit. The vomit sounds like it has bile in it. You realy need to at least call a vet.

Stress can cause these symptoms, so can illness, and ingesting a foriegn object.

Please check with a vet.

This could be lots of things, some fatal. Your dog is really sick, blood in stools is a bad thing, and what she puked was bile, which means she's really sick.

The good news is that this is likely something your vet can help, get the dog in ASAP!

it may be Parvo, check the blood for chunks or clots. The odor of the blood has a distinct horrible smell, like its rotten. Thats a main sign of Parvo. If the blood is just watery, it might be from constipation and the yellow vomit may be bile. Maybe your dog just has a URI. Like i said, check the blood and its smell. Working in a shelter, i ran into Parvo dozens of times and everytime, the smell gave it away. good luck

You rally need to take stool sample in to be sure. Call your vet Monday. It could be parvo, or blockage but only your vet can tell. Don't give him anything except water until you get to Vet. If he seems dehydrated or its been going on longer than just today, Call emergency Vet and go right away. good Luck!

She could have parvo, an intestinal parasite that makes your dog very sick. The vomit may have been straight bile that your dog is throwing up. Has she eaten anything in the last few hours? If not she is throwing up stomach acids, because she has an upset stomach, and her mind is telling her body to get everything out of there. This triggers the gag reflex, leads to vomiting.

Take you dog to the vet! My puppy got sick and had the same symptoms and it was parvo. She almost died from it, had to be kept at the vet for a week and out of 4 other pups she's the only one who made it. But only your vet can tell.

It could be a lot of different things. This happened w/my dog and the vet put him on an antibiotic and he was fine. But his was due to the fact that he's 14 years old. So it really could be any number of things, just take her to the vet.

It could be worms coudl be parvo... you need rapid test from vet to discount parvo... if its worms very cheap easy fix, usually.

AT any rate, get some liquid into your pup... i mean nice lukewarm water Call your vet to make appt. Ihave blog on parvo if you want to do quick print out so that you can read up on the way to vet (if someone else drives) or so that you can read in waiting room to be prepared, just in case

Blood in the urine is an instant "Go to the Vet" sign.

The other might be stomach bile.

There can be so many things, that could be going on, that cause blood in the stool! You need to take your dog to the vet, as soon as you possibly can, the sooner the better! Blood is nothing to fool around with and has to be checked out right away!

Blood in stool can be a serious problem. I recommend you take him to your veterinarian for a check up, especially if he begins to show pain during defecation.

If the stool has a mucus-like appearance and was tarry or black in color, it signifies that there could be bleeding occuring in the upper digestive tract, large intestine or could possibly be a type of colitis.

If the stool has clots or shows bright red blood, it signifies that could be bleeding in the lower digestive tract or he may be bleeding from the anus.

There can be a lot of reasons for this onset, he may have eaten something that he cannot pass through his system. Check to see if he may have ingested something he should not have like a piece of plastic, metal, wood or hard food. This is the most common for dogs as they tend to nibble on things when you are not looking.

Yellow vomit is common. The yellow represents stomach bile. It becomes a bigger concern when you see heavy mucus or blood in the vomit.

He may be sensitive to foods but you would see other signs of an allergy like a rash, constant stomach upset, diarrhea or constipation, and infections (especially in the ears).

You can add garlic powder to his food. Garlic is an anti-microbial and will help clear the system of bacteria and infection. Don't be afraid to sprinkle it with a heavy hand, dogs love garlic and he should eat it up right away. The only draw back to adding garlic in the food is flatulence, it may be a little stinky but the garlic is doing its job by pushing the bacteria through the system. You can keep him on garlic as long as your like, its is beneficial, safe long term and effective.

Best of luck!

if your dog has had her shots then it isn't Parvo. a little blood in the stool can be from some parasite ( worms, gerardia or cockcidia ). yellow vomit is bile from an up set stomach.

she will need to see the vet. either way and be treated for the problem. take a stool sample in with you so the vet. can check it and see exactly what is wrong.

Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in the anal canal. They can be itchy, bleeding and/or painful protrusions just under the skin. To get rid of hemorrhoids you can use this natural method that already have thousands of positive reviews https://tr.im/cFhOh

There are two types internal and external. Internal are inside the anal canal in the lower rectum and external are at the anus. They result from increased pressure in the veins often due to straining during bowel movements and during pregnancy. Scratching in an attempt to relieve the itching symptoms further weakens the area and compounds the problem.

hi, my mums a vet and here she is, im helping you because my dog died of somthing like this, here she is!

Dr Kate:

If your dog is eating and drinking normally, her poop and urine output look normal, and she's otherwise acting normal, it's probably nothing to worry about. However, any dog taking any NSAID (like Rimadyl), even intermittently, should have her kidney and liver enzyme levels checked regularly to make sure the med isn't having a deleterious effect on those organs. A simple blood test will tell you if all is well in that regard.

Hematochezia is the presence of bright red, fresh blood in the feces. Hematochezia usually occurs with bleeding in the lower intestines (colon, rectum). Hematochezia should not be confused with melena , which is the passage of dark, tarry, black feces. Melena represents the passage of old, digested blood that has occurred with bleeding higher up in the intestinal tract.

The presence of hematochezia may be a symptom of either a minor problem, or a potentially more serious problem in the animal. One occurrence of hematochezia may be a minor and transient event. Repeated or persistent hematochezia is more serious and should not be ignored. There are several possible causes. The most common cause in older pets is cancer and in younger pets are parasites.

How old is the dog - most more mature dogs wont get parvo - it usually affects puppies

Here is one possiblity - there is two types of bleeding that you might see in the dogs stool - one is Hematochezia; which is the presence of bright red, fresh blood in the feces.

I'm assuming its Hematochezia from your description: Here are some signs to watch for

# Infectious agents, such as bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and intestinal parasites

# Dietary intolerance/allergy/indiscretion

# Cancer (neoplasia) of the lower bowel

# Polyps (benign masses) in the colon or rectum

# Inflammatory bowel diseases, such as colitis

# Trauma to the lower bowel or anal area

# Clotting disorders (coagulopathy)

# Intussusception (the telescoping of one part of the bowel into another)

# Miscellaneous diseases of the anus, rectum and colon

What to Watch For

# Bright red blood in the feces

# Possible straining to defecate

# Increased number of bowel movements produced

# Possibly no other clinical signs

# Possibly other systemic signs of illness, such as excessive drinking, urinating, vomiting and diarrhea, lethargy, poor appetite, weight loss

There are several things your veterinarian might prescribe to treat your pet' symptoms. These include:

# Changes in the animal's diet

# Fluid therapy

# Deworming medications for intestinal parasites

# Antibiotics for bacterial infections

# Motility modifying drugs that change the rate of movement of food through the intestines

# Intestinal protectant/adsorbent drugs to coat, protect, and sooth the gastrointestinal tract

Home Care

At home administer any prescribed medications as directed by your veterinarian and follow any dietary recommendations closely.

You should also observe your pet's general activity and appetite, and watch closely for the presence of blood in the stool, or a worsening of signs. If any changes occur, notify your veterinarian.

hope this helps!

It is better for diabetics to eat slow burning carbs: potatoes, peanut butter, vegetables, breads, dairy products, etc. VS. fast burning carbs: candy, sugared soda, cakes, ice cream, anything high in sugar. Just know what your carb/insulin ratios (how much insulin you have to give yourself for the amount of carbs you are intaking) are. Adjust according to the amount of carbs(sugars) you are intaking. And, you should be fine. Natural sugars are better than processed sugars.

I don't recall ever having a dog whose stool had blood in it, but we have had calves do this. They usually have a bad bug or pneumonia. I would say your dog needs antiobiotics to kick this thing. Have the vet check him/her out just to be on the safe side.

If she doesnt have her shots it is Parvo- it can be deadly to dogs. Get her into the vet
jasmine
2008-07-19 23:34:49 UTC
this requires a vet trip asap...most of the time this is caused by worms or other minor issues that are easily cured if you catch it early....don't wait....if it is parvo it could result in death. take a stool sample with you when you go to the vet.

I think that you should take your pup to the vet and find out what is causing it to throw up. let me know what the vet said, I will be there for you.
2008-07-20 07:12:11 UTC
She probably ate something she shouldn't,like a snail, etc. Her immune system should kick it in a day or so.Monitor closely to determine if it passes or a trip to the vet is needed!

Cancer or something internal, have your dog checked out by a vet.
2008-07-20 14:41:18 UTC
Parvo, a disease which will dehydrate her, she will not eat, and will die. I just paid out $1300 dollars to save my pup. the pup isn't woth $1.00, but I like him, so if you want to save your dog, prepare for the expense. The disease is transmittable, so other dogs are at risk. See a vet immediately.

i can't stress how important it is for people who have health concerns with there animal to take it to a vet, they are the only people trained to diagnose your animals problems, and asking people on here could get you bad or wrong answers that could put your pet at risk.

so please take your dog to a vet, its better to be safe than sorry.
VT

it could be something serious - call your vet!

YOU BETTER TAKE THE DOG TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY, AS IT COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION..HAS YOUR DOGS HAD ITS BOOSTER INJECTIONS AGAINST THE CANINE DISEASES?

IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD HIM IMMUNISED, TAKE HIM TO THE VET PLEASE, AS A FRIEND OF MINE LOST HIS DOG, AFTER PICKING UP PARVO VIRUS WHEN OUT WALKING..UNFORTUNATELY HE LOST THE DOGS AFTER 3 DAYS..IT WAS AWFUL TO SEE AS THEY GO THROUGH AGONISING PAIN..

PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THE DOG TO THE VET..IT MAY JUST BE SOMETHING HE HAS EATEN AS MY LABRADOR USED TO DO THIS AND THEN SHOW SYMPTONS LIKE THE SICKNESS BUT HE DID NOT HAVE BLOOD IN HIS STOOLS..

GO TO THE VET AND HE WILL BE ABLE TO HELP YOU..PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW HE IS IN A FEW DAYS..

Normal healthy dogs will poop some blood when it's wormy. My dog throw ups clear yellow bile, not urine, when she has an empty stomach. So, take her to the vet for a check up and a good deworming. Also if she threw up early in the day, try feeding her smaller portions of her total food intake at least twice a day with the first feeding in morning after her potty.

Wow, I just had a puppy poop some blood and guess what? He had worms; vet treated him and hmmm, no more blood. I know what I'm talking about.

There are several reasons that your dog might have bloody stool. Below are some of the most common reasons given by various veterinarians:

Your dog might have cancer;

Your dog might have eaten something really sharp which is cutting him/her internally;

Your dog might have internal parasites;

Your dog might have a viral infection;

Your dog might have a small intestine problem; or

Your dog might be suffering from an anal sac infection.

If your dog has bloody stool, rest assured that there are steps you can take to help your furry friend overcome this ailment.

You might want to look closely at the amount of blood because a few drops is ok;

You might want to stop feeding your dog bones;

You might want to be proactive and not allow your dog to sniff other’s poop; or

You might want to make sure that your dog is properly hydrated when you go on a hike or long walk.

If none of the above remedies work then you should consult your vet to see what exactly might be causing the problem.
