How big will my Australian Shepherd get?

How big will my Australian Shepherd get? She's 18 inches tall and 19 inches long and weighs 22 pounds and she is just shy of being 9 months old. My fiancé is starting to worry that she was sold to me under the condition that she was a standard Aussie but that the breeder lied to me and sold me her when she was actually a miniature Aussie. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated especially from Aussie owners and Aussie breeders.

Added - she is actually young yet, and may grow a bit more. At nine months, they should be about 4/5 their full size, and there is still time for her to grow a bit more. You should have been given registration papers, in which you should be able to research who her parents are, and whether they are registered Aussies.

Here is the breed standard according to ASCA, the parent club:

http://www.asca.org/aboutaussies/breedstandard

She is well within the standard, and some can be very petite even if they are full bred Aussies and not those horrible little cross bred "mini's". The dog in my avatar is from some of the oldest bedrock lines, and she's only 36 pounds. If she has a high metabolism, it may also be hard to keep weight on her - my girl looked like a Greyhound in the winter, although she was eating over three cups of puppy food - still getting lunch- up to the age of a year. Some can just be sort of lanky.

The show lines can be much stouter and hairier, but in the beginning, the stockdogs were very light on their feet and not meant to be enormous dogs with heavy bone. That is very possible with your dog. I'd be curious to know where you got her.

Her skeleton will be growing until she is almost a year, and then she will fill out more by the time she is two- but she would be expected to reach her full height by one year old or so. At her age now, her rear will be higher than her front - they grow unevenly.

DId you see her parents?

How Tall Are Australian Shepherds

At 9 months old she shouldn't get any taller. She will gain more weight and full out more though. If you can get ahold of some vet records find how much she weighed when she was 4 months old and double that weight. That should be close to her adult weight. Sometimes poorly bred dogs don't meet the standard for their breed km size and weight. My friend had Aussie puppies and one of them was very small. Only about 30 pounds full grown. Another pup from the same litter was at least 85 pounds full grown. Both of the parents were around 55 pounds each.

They can get anywhere from 40-90 pounds and up to about 26 inches in height.

Edit-

I have two pure breed pomeranians with papers and everything. One of their puppies ended up three times the size of it's parents. The guy we sold him to thought we lied but after showing him the mother, father, siblings and papers he realized the dog is just big for it's breed. It could always just be a fluke in genetics.

Properly bred females have a height of 18-21 inches. She may only grow a bit more.

There is no such thing as a miniature Aussie - you should not have bought her from a breeder you can't trust.

Since there are no "mini" Australian Shepherds in the breed, your dog should be normal size for a female. They grow till about 18-24 months. She still has a lot of time to grow.

She can be as tall as she wants to be if you let her :)
