Please Read: There is No such thing as a Blue Eyed Malamute. I have owned and Studied both breeds for almost 8 years. They is a breed called 'Alaskan Husky' Which is a cross between the two and it is not a registered breed. It is a mix. This should help, Best of luck!

Siberian Husky Features:

Siberian Huskies come in many different coat colors and variations. From Agouti (wolf like) Mostly black to all White. Some even come Piebald which is when the crown doesn't connect over the head. They may come with mask ranging from full to an open face. Generally a Male will range from 21 to 23 1/2 inches and weight about 45 - 60 lbs. Female 20 - 22 inches and usually should weigh about 35 - 50 lbs. Keep in mind this is idealistic and their are many factors that could effect this. Their tails contrary to popular belief should not be curled, resting over the back. Sibes tails should either flag, Which is when they are carried erect and slightly curl toward the back. (Some say resembles a flag in the wind) or straight out, Which is a position you'll see as they run or become alert. Their eyes may come in many different colors from browns, gold, blue, green and some even multi colored which is when one eye is for example blue and the other brown. On occasion you'll see a stunning combo of green and blue.

Alaskan Malamute Features:

Alaskan Malamute's due come in a variety of coat colors, Much like a Siberian Husky. They also share their wolf like appearance but are larger, muscular and are often seen with longer coats. Unlike Siberian Huskies, Malamute's do not have blue eyes. Their eyes are generally a warm brown. Males are to be 25 in tall and about 85 lbs. Females 23 in and only about 75 lbs. Bare in mind this is AKC standard and it may range depending on the genetic line the dogs parents came from. Some breeders even produce 'Giant Alaskan Malamutes' though it is not another breed, It is also not accepted in breed Registrations. Their tails are mostly well furred and carried across the back, Where as the Siberian Huskies should either be flagged (Lightly waving in the air, Slightly curled. Not touching the back) or straight out.

''Alaskan Husky'' Features:

They Alaskan Husky is a Cross between the Siberian Husky and the Alaskan Malamute. It is not a registered breed, So it can come in many sizes and coat variations. They can have any eye color of the two breeds. They're tails are usually furred and can be carried in a light curl or straight out. The breed can usually be identified when the features mimic both breeds, However this can not be verified as there is yet to be a standard.

For the people who say , who cares? Well in part the training of a Malamute and a Husky are different, they were also bread to do different kinds of work. Trying to get one to do the breeds work could be harmful to the dog. If you plan to just have as a pet than it does not make much difference, except huskies are real runners and will take off more often than a malamute. In my opinion and it is just mine Malamutes are much smarter and much more willing to please. With both breeds you have to establish that you are the Alpha or you are in for a hand full. Establishing your the Alpha does not need to involve an cruelty what so ever. Also the different breeds are subject to different ailments so it would be nice to know. I have had both and they were or are great dogs, I find my Malamute is not much of watch dog, in fact he may even hold the flashlight although most bad guys would fear either dog. The Malamute is very good with kids in fact they were used to watch the kids by Inuits when they were not at home. Again both are very loving dogs my Husky would look after my son better than most parents, my Malamute will lay and look after me if I am sick.

Yes, there is such a thing as a blue eyed malamute.

Yes, it's a disqualifying feature for a show-dog.

Yes, it could very well be a full-blooded Malamute.

Blue eyes is a recessive trait in the genes, so if you took a Mally that had blue eyes in it's blood [a great grandparent or something], and another of the same; you could very well get a Blue-Eyes Malamute.

The same happens with humans, and other species in the world.

Malamutes Ideal size: Males – 25 inches tall at the shoulder and 85 pounds; Females – 23 inches tall at the shoulder and 75 pounds

Huskys Rang in size from 20 to 23 ½ inches tall at the shoulder and 35 to 60 pounds.

Eyes may be brown or blue in color; one of each or parti-colored are acceptable.

How much the dog weights and how tall she is will help tell if she is a husky or malamute

MALAMUTES do NOT have blue eyes.

Its a DQ in the breed standard.

Refer your friends to the AKC breed standard for Malamutes

Summary

IMPORTANT: In judging Malamutes, their function as a sledge dog for heavy freighting in the Arctic must be given consideration above all else. The degree to which a dog is penalized should depend upon the extent to which the dog deviates from the description of the ideal Malamute and the extent to which the particular fault would actually affect the working ability of the dog. The legs of the Malamute must indicate unusual strength and tremendous propelling power. Any indication of unsoundness in legs and feet, front or rear, standing or moving, is to be considered a serious fault. Faults under this provision would be splay-footedness, cowhocks, bad pasterns, straight shoulders, lack of angulation, stilted gait (or any gait that isn't balanced, strong and steady), ranginess, shallowness, ponderousness, lightness of bone, and poor overall proportion.

Malamutes do not have blue eyes, sounds as though she is a HUsky however she could also be crossed between the two. Mals are usually more solid as they are built for endurance racing as Huskies are more slight in there build as they are built for speed, not endurance.

I surely have a 4 month Malamute. I surely have some years adventure of coaching and working with German shepherds and Dobermans. The Malamute is a few thing else. at the start the dogs is particularly hardy and intensely not uncomplicated bodily. preliminary education might desire to start a minimum of on the age of three months. have faith you me they might cope with self-discipline at that age. it is often met with a wagging tail and the impact that on the slightest danger he will bugger off and ignore approximately you. utilizing a collar is little need in anyway. i exploit a selfmade choke lead produced from cotton rope, no chain. Obedience to foodstuff rewards is complete in this for a pair of weeks. I then enable the dogs off the lead for a quick era calling him back as quickly as to obtain the reward and allow him unfastened returned. If this seeme ok I repeat the approach a pair greater situations before I positioned him back on the lead. while on the lead he's not allowed to smell/***** or give up me on my adventure. he's in basic terms allowed to try this off the lead besides as doing his organisation. It takes time, and different situations I surely have had to count selection to 10, yet i stumbled on it fairly works. In different words the dogs will do as you assert not because it needs.

Only way to prove what your dog is by looking at the registration papers you have when you got her from the reputable breeder. Otherwise you won't know for sure.
