Common dime-a-dozen pit-MUTT.
Unless your dog has legitimate paperwork proving its pedigree is 100% pure American Pit Bull Terrier, you have the far more common pit-mutt.
Pit-mutts are dogs made by breeding any dog that -looks- like a pit bull. They share many of the characteristics of purebred APBT's and AmStaffs...but are far from pure.
Basically, when you mix two very different breeds, like with most mutts, you can't predict what features the puppies will express.
But with the common pit-mutt, the breeds mixed into it all share common ancestors. they are Bully-Breed** dogs.
So without proof of the dog's pedigree, you can only assume its just a generic pit-type mix.
**Bully Breed is the catch-all blanket term for dogs related to the Pit Bull family. using "pit bull" instead of "bully-breed" makes people think that the APBT isn't a breed, but rather a type. which is WRONG. Bully-breed is a TYPE of dog. Pit Bull is a BREED of dog.
@Crystal: Blue nose is not a specific type of pit bull. its pigment, the color in the skin, on the dog's nose. Its common, its a dilution of the gene that causes black noses. Never use "blue nose" or "red nose" to describe a pit bull. Either its a pit bull, a pit-mutt, or its not. Nose color means nothing.
