Question:
What tricks can your dog do?

I would love to know what other people teach their dog to do and I am looking for some different trick to teach my dog, we are both getting a little bored with the same old tricks.
At the moment he just does the normal - Sit, lay, roll over, play dead, crawl, turn circle, up, speak, beg.
Please help me make obedience time more interesting for the both of us :)

We all must think our dogs are the best but mine is!...

She will, sit, paw, other paw, down, fetch, speak, twirl (left and right) she will also 'say please' (it look like begging) It took us ages to get this on as she had to learn to balance. My friends JRT is ace at it but then she's a better shape!

Her best trick is she has to sit with a really tasty treat on her nose and i say wait.....wait.....wait..... then..... YOU CAN AV IT. At which point she flicks it up in the air and catches it.

She is also a show dog so she knows how to stand still and trott in a triangle and TEETH when the judge asks for them.

My dog is an 18 month old golden retreiver Called ORLA. she is so pretty. The thing that makes me smile most however is when you have somthing she wants she will do all her tricks in quick sucsession to see if one of them will get her the treat. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

My dog can close doors, weave walk, jump through my arms( i make a ring with them),bow, rub his eyes, give a back paw and the usual high fives, play dead etc. Look at canineconcepts.co.uk and then look for the bit of the site about training or just google dog tricks or clicker training. There is lots of advice about. Have fun.

I taught my dog to open and shut the door, play dead not just fall over but he spins around in a circle and then falls out with a yelp! He is also trained in personal proection ..well thats not a trick huh....he sings, sit, stay, down, come, plays patty cake...kiss the cat he'll run up to her and lick her face all over...(mind you this is a st bernard!) He plays hide n seek...great for the kid..lol...he is well trained on the leash to...when u stop he stops and sits....

we got my rhodesian ridgeback to do "where's your buddy?"

He has a buddy that is a corgi, and the two sitting side by side waiting for a treat is really funny looking. I was getting them to wave when the rr accidently hit the corgi on the head. I gave him a positive marker for it by accident, and a new trick was born. Please note, that now they both get a treat for the trick since the corgi sits still for it.

I added the words "where's your buddy?" as i wave small and he hits him in the head every time.

We are working on dropping the hand signal.

I also like "touch" where the dog puts his nose on a target. I make a fist and he touches his nose to it. It started by holding a treat in the closed hand and when he touched the fist to sniff it, he got a treat from my other hand. Now i don't need the treat in my fist and he touches it when i say touch and hold it out. we are working on moving targets now. He is getting there.

My puppy can ...Sit, shake paw, shake other paw, high five (he will jump up and giev u a real high five), beg, bring you a toy, say quiet for when he's barking to get him to stop, drop it (sorta sometimes he does it sometimes he doesn't), up..this is almost like sitting pretty..and ya i think thats about it...How ever he's pretty intelligent so I'm sure i could teach him more things.

Add: how could i have forgot, lay down..he's really good at that one...and come here

Our Llasa can do all of the regular tricks (i.e. sit, shake, speak, roll over, leaves treat on nose until released to eat, gets her toy when asked, etc.). Our favorite is when she wags her tail on command and plays dead after being shot with a fake "finger" gun. If you "shoot" her when she's down, she twitches. Very amusing! We once displayed her talents in our vet's office, but the doctor wasn't too keen on our saying "Dead dog" in his office.

I think the key to successful training is to reserve about 15-20 minutes each day to teach new and reinforce old tricks. If you're having fun while training, your dog is enjoying her/himself, too. Reward, reward, praise, and reward!

Our 1 year old BT does the basic sit/down/stay/come. We're working on roll-over (which he's getting better at). We're also working on 'find it' and 'sit pretty'. The 'find it' is going pretty good. We first started with food treats, now we use 'find it' when he's lost a toy. It's cute to see him go searching for it.

I forgot that he'll also sit and wait for his food until we tell him OK, and when playing fetch, if he bring the ball back that's too far for us, we tell him 'closer' and he'll bring the ball closer to us so we can throw it again.

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Read more https://tr.im/H6FOU

Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

It's not really a trick, But when my dog got sick & threw up she would hide it with her blanket or pillow.

Have a look at this link. It´s very funny. Is about Pancho, a dog whom is fed up of doing everything for his owner, even going to the news agent to pay for the weekly lottery ticket. But one day, the dog didn´t come back...

Speak on command. Not only does it scare off potential intruders or unpleasant people but once you have taught him to speak (ie bark) when told to you can easily teach him not to bark when you don't want him to,such as when the postman calls or when someone innocently pases the door or window.

she can;

give a paw, then the other one when you ask.

she can double paw.

she can sit

beg

rollover

stay

lie

stand

speak

but my fave are;

when you ask for a hug, she'll but her both paws on ur shoulders

and kisses, she nudges your mouth/nose

she can leave a treat and when you tell her to get it she will same with throwing a ball

shes a border collie, so she loves to learn new things & is very clever.

i loved training her, it was very fun she enjoyed it too.

thats amazing. i cant even get my dog to understand how to sit down. but i looked through this one book that told some cool tricks you can do w/ ur dog here they are:

teach your dog to jump through a hula hoop, teach your dog to go to its bed every time the doorbell rings (heh, when i tried to teach my dog this the doorbell scared him and he wa whining and howling and barking and running around the house for about 10 minutes it was funny lol), heh this one wasnt in the book but ive always wanted to teach my dog to do like and obstacle course like they do in some movies. like ive always wanted to stack up some plastic boxes, get some hurdles and stuff like that but my dogs too retarded to learn that lol. so just stuff like dat i guess.

Chase after a ball but not return and drop it! But she's cute and affectionate so I don't care that she doesn't fetch and drop.
