Question:
Help! My dogs hair is out of control (Great Pyrenees)!?

I have a Great Pyrenees and a German Shepard mix, his hair is just like a Great Pyrenees. I'm thinking he is shedding for winter. He is only 10 months old and just now starting to get into his full coat. I do brush (reg. human brush then the wire brush) but he continues to shed like mad. I bathe him which is a chore it self, but after i bath him he sheds MORE!? But my biggest thing is, if i wash clothes or towel whatever maybe, the washing machine and dryer does not get rid of the hair. Example i wash some towels when i go to use them there is hair all over it even though i just washed it and the dog was never near it. The lint roller is not doing the trick, and you can only use so much lint roller if you know what i mean. It is like the hair is in bedded and wont come out. Here are my questions:
1.Do i need to get a groomer for him, b/c of his coat and the type of hair?

2. Can i do this on my own (constantly brushing him every single day)?

3. To get rid of the hair that is in bedded in the clothes, blankets, bed spreads, towels etc. do i need a good washing machine or dryer? Is there a washing machine and dryer that helps get rid of unwanted dog hair.

I have owned several GP's. great dogs. they do shed a LOT! Usually they shed in summer tho to get rid of the undercoat. not sure why he is shedding so much now. maybe because his adult coat is coming in. I have found that pulling the fur out daily is better than brushing. Do it outside. It is a really big job. My current GP will stand and let me pull the fur out as long as I want when she is shedding. You can tell where the hair is loose and coming out. i just grab hold and pull it out by the handfuls. Like I said she enjoys it. One thing you do need to know is to not cut the coat. It ruins it. Their fur is made to help keep them warm in winter and cool in summer.

Not any particular washer or dryer that is best for the hair that I know of, just wash the bedding frequesntly, clean the filter our good. you can also try pulling the hair out like I mentioned and brush him as we. Good luck! I go thru this every year with a pyrenees.

Have you tried using a FURminator brush? They tend to work very well. What they do is thoroughly remove dead fur from the dog's undercoat (which is the fur that would end up being shed all over your home). New FURminators are expensive, but you can buy one on eBay for really cheap, so I'd recommend that. Here's the FURminator site:

So use that. It'll be MUCH more effective than using a human brush! I personally don't think you need to have him professionally groomed just because he sheds a lot; all the groomer would do is brush him out with a fancy brush like this, so you can do the same thing at home without paying for a groomer.

As for the clothing and such that's covered in fur, have you tried using a lint brush? (I think that's what they're called.) They look like hairbrushes, but instead of bristles, that have a special fabric that catches fur and hair and lint. Like this:
