My old dog has had a little problem with age related incontinence lately, mostly while he sleeps (just a little bit while he lays down, but enough that he smells and his bedding smells). We are getting him the male doggie diapers to save our whole place from smelling like pee, but how can we keep him from smelling like pee? We've tried using doggie bath wipes, and baby powder, but those don't really work too well.

My concern is keep his groin clean and to get rid of the smell. I know rubbing alcohol is great for getting the smell out of carpet. Can I use a damp cloth with rubbing alcohol on it to clean his groin area?

no no no no no.

Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) is not going to be good for your dog. If its his groin that's a sensitive area and will dry it out and irritate it. Would you put it on your groin??

It would also strip the hair of its natural oils and his dandruff would be itchy and uncomfortable.

I have no suggestions on what you can use other than typical dog shampoo's, but surely DO NOT use rubbing alcohol!!!

rubbing alcohol drys out their skin and coat.

rubbing alcohol is good for getting rid of fleas but I would just suggest giving him a bath with doggie shampoo

God bless you!

Rubbing alcohol will be too drying in the long run. Use hypoallergenic baby wipes

Rubbing alcohol can be absorbed thru the skin and poison your dog
