I grew up with australian shepherds. I don't have experience with other dog breeds either.
I would like to have a puppy. I live in the city so i don't have a big yard at all but i will take my dog on a walk everyday (or two times a day).
I am willing to brush my dog once a week. I would like either a small dog or a large medium dog. I want a active playful dog who always is there licking your face and being playful outside and indoors.
I want a dog who is a fast learner and not stubborn.
Good temperament. I sometimes have kids around the house so a dog that is good with kids too.

Dogs that i been thinking of:
Australian shepherd (again)
Papillon
Lab
Golden Retriever

what dog or other dog breed should i think of getting? that would be good for me.

I would suggest a golden if you want kids over and a dog that has a good temperament and they are fast learner and playful ( this is just generalization you have to interact with the puppy and see its personality to know if it is like that)

Here are websites that are about the four breeds you were thinking of the pros and cons of all of them

Papillion

This may sound strange, with your living space, but i say get a Beagle !

Beagles ( especially the females) are very easy to train and unless they are brought into hunting at an early age ( and even some times after) are very obedient . They are very playful, have a very mellow temper and are great with kids ! They need to be brushed like any other dog, but i've found that they don't have to be brushed as often as most!

Just My Suggestion

Hope this helps, even a little

Good Luck :)

Bichon Frise

A cheerful, happy dog, the Bichon Frise is small and sturdy with a dark-eyed inquisitive expression and a plumed tail it carries merrily over the back. The breed is often compared to a cotton ball due to its curled double coat, which consists of a textured outer coat and a silky undercoat. The coat must be white, but may have shadings of buff, cream or apricot around the ears or on the body.

Goldens are great for what you've described. I've had mine for 11 years! Ellis is very playful and loves to come up and give you big kisses! Not aggressive at all unless they're defending their owners from danger. Very loyal. But, if you want more, Pembroke/Cardigan Welsh Corgis are great. Here's a complete list of every purebred and hybrid breed known to man.

Here is a quiz that will help:

Personally, it sounds like you would do well with a Carin Terrier. They are EXCELLENT around children, very obediant, apartment friendly, very interactive and playful, and NOT hyper. They are about 10 lbs, but VERY sturdy, strong enough to go hiking/camping and small enough to lay on your lap. Perfect around kids because they don't break eaisly. Plus NO shedding, perfect for ppl with alergies and minimal grooming.

Sounds like a sheltland sheepdog would be perfect for you, especially if you are used to the high energy of an australian shepherd!

They are small, but packed full of energy and personality!

I think labs and retrievers are great dogs, but might need a larger yard. Cocker spaniels fit the bill except they are stubborn. They are very intelligent to the point where they teach you how to play their way.

A dachsund might be perfect for you.

PomPoo's are great living in small spaces like apartments. They are loyal and smart and don't need alot of space. They are maintenance also not to mention they do not shed. I know cause I am a PomPoo Breeder.
