My Jack Russell is very picky. She doesn't get any table food except a small piece of bread to put her pill in. I have tried my different kinds of food. Anytime I get her a new food I wean her off the other. I have tried putting the food down at the same time everyday but it doesn't work. So now I just leave it down all day but she still won't hardly eat. I know she is spoiled but I want to get a dog food she likes. Everybody says when she gets hungry she will eat but I don't want her to have to go hungry. I can't give her can food because it gives her a diarrhea. I have tried Iams, Nutro Max, but she won't eat it more than a few days. Eukanuba, Canidae these give her gas. Science Diet she won't eat at all. Kibbles and Bits she does like but it gives her a diarrhea. Any advice would be great.

~ Well all the foods you have tried other than Canidae are very, very low quality horrible foods, especially the Kibbles N Bits. You need to really research dog food since there is so much information about what goes into dog food, who makes it, recalls and ingredients.

One of the best dog foods and most appealing according to my dogs and my husband is Orijen, my dogs really love the 6 Fresh Fish which is no grain, no fillers, fresh human grade ingredients processed at low temperatures. It is a very rich food and I have never seen a dog turn it away. Unlike the foods you have tired a quality food like Orijen will give your dog a great coat, minimal poop and is so much healthier for your dog. Go to www.orijen.ca to find where to buy. The rule of thumb is if you can buy it in the grocery store it is the lowest quality you can get, if you buy it in a big box pet store it is mid grade to low quality. Excellent dog food will be sold in usually smaller stores, pet boutiques, dog health food stores etc.

Another excellent food is Innova, California Natural and EVO they are all made by Natura that only makes human grade no filler dog food. Innova is an excellent meat and grain dog food with quality ingredients. California Natural is a minimal ingredient food for dogs that have skin and food sensitivities. EVO is an excellent grain free dog food and my dogs really love the EVO red meat but they have others.

www.naturapet.com they also have a store locator and you will find that a place that sells Orijen will also sell Natura products since they are of same quality.

Another one on the market that is worth trying is Wellness and Wellness Core, Core is their grain free formula.

www.wellnesspetfood.com

The use of corn, wheat, or soy which cause skin irritation, hair loss, fever, ear infections, kidney failure, liver failure. dental disease, obesity, chronic digestive problems, bloat, heart disease, and hyperthyroidism. All of the foods you have tried have a lot of these except for Canidae which is a mid grade food. Avoid these ingredients!

ADD: For the people that feed Pedigree, have you ever looked at the ingredients or do you just not care?

I can not understand why you would ever give your dog kibbles and Bits. I am guessing you have never looked at what goes into this bag right? It is literally the WORSE food you could feed your dog and will send your dog to an early grave. Foods with by products, corn, soy, beet pulp, meat not in meal form and in the first ingredients is just a bag of overpriced dog crap.

Dog training are excellent and very helpful to build you a stronger relationship with your dog. Read more https://tinyurl.im/XmHYX

After I started training my dog, he became very attached to me and loves to stay by side as long as he can. But just going to them won't help. You have to practice what they teach you outside of the class and you need to keep up with it at least every now and then after the class ends otherwise they'll just go back to previous habits. This course is a really good place to go for dog obedience classes. It get's your dog around other people and dogs to socialize while getting the training you need. As for electric collars, I would say to not get one. In my experience, they're only a negative effect on your dog. I mean of course you're going to need to correct your dog, but being positive and encouraging your dog works a lot faster and easier.

Every dog is different, so unless you have a german shepherd or a really smart dog, it might take a while to train her. You might get frustrated with her, but go easy. She's still a puppy and has a lot of energy. A backyard or somewhere to run will help her get rid of a lot of energy that might cause her to misbehave from boredom.

Ah, your dogs have you well trained, don't they? Maltese. Find a nice high quality food like Natural Balance small bites and feed it to them. Leave it down 15-20 minutes then pick it up. They won't starve themselves. If you want to sweeten the pot a bit, a tsp of plain organic low-fat yogurt won't hurt and may even help their tummies a bit.

For my picky eaters they get Wellness, Orijen, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, and Innova in their rotation so far it seems they dive into the Orijen and Chicken Soup the most but they reluctantly eat the Innova but they know that if they don't eat it their food gets taken away after 15 minutes until the next meal.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple years, I'm sure you've heard of the Paleo Diet. Read here https://tr.im/McDo8

I hate to even call it a diet, because it's really just the real way that humans have eaten for almost 1.9 Million years, as opposed to the modern-day processed food diet full of grains, sugars, and processed vegetable oils.

well any type of dry dog food is bad for your dogs health, most dogs like the raw dog food diet, the diarrhea won't happen if you feed your dog raw meats like bacon and beef (not chicken) it is good for your dog and my dog hates his food so we give him table scraps and some raw this and that. my friend puts her dogs pill in a medium cube of cheese. If your dog has diarrhea on the raw diet take her to the vet. For gas, that most likely won't happen but if it does get some air freshener and get over it her Body will get adjust to the change and it will go away, and the gas might be happening because of the change of food a lot.

Your mixing up the food too much and her system isn't getting used to anything.Diarrhea is a side effect it will go away in a couple days if you leave her on the same food. She won't starve to death when she gets hungry she'll eat.

Pick a high quality food and stick with it.

She doesn't "have" to go hungry. She "chooses" to in an attempt to train you. It's working.

She'll eat when she gets hungry, soon as she realizes she can't control you any longer.

You are in a difficult situation here, if a dog is hungry and healthy, it will eat. if it is healthy but wont eat, it isn't hungry, so take the food away and let it miss this meal. if you don't want her to go hungry and are concerned about this idea, you shouldn't be, i had the same problem with my dog and this helped!

best of luck!!!!
