my aunt has a cattle dog and she is super hyper!
Her and a fellow dog lover where talking and he mentioned somewhere where you pay like $30 to have your dog run around and herd sheep for a while to release energy.

does anyone know a farm around Illinois where we can go and bring the dog????

thanks.

First, herding is never considered a way to let your dog run around and release energy. Sheep are not wooly toys. Most people are using their sheep for things other than working dogs so they take herding very seriously and are willing to help people interested in learning more about herding and introducing dogs to the concept but are not keen on someone simply using it to blow off energy. Generally herding is seen as a serious endeavor and most trainers approach it that way.

You say you're in illinois but it's a big state so i'll provide some locations where you may find herding facilities

I have a ACD and he might prefer to herd sheep but we don't have any. Actually, we don't have any cattle either so my dog chases chickens and when he gets tired of that, he will go chase some horses.

That seems to satisfy his urge to chase or herd stuff. I tried chasing the chickens with him but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as he did.
