I want to adopt a therapy dog but I work long hours, I came across a website named Pride and Prejudoodles stating that they train dogs labradoodles and goldendoodles. The puppies will come home house trained and they are all raised by dog trainers. I don t see any reviews on google or Facebook. I m wondering if anyone has ever adopted from them or know anyone that has adopted from them before? Thanks for your help!

No and looking briefly at that website, I'd have absolutely NOTHING to do with this outfit. Part of bonding with a puppy involves YOU doing the training, just for starters. $12,000 +++ for a puppy (who won't be 'hypoallergenic' either) is just crazy.

How do you train dogs that don't exist? "Doodle" is just a stupid name backyard breeding con artists came up with. Just BS con artists.

If you're one of those frauds that wants "emotional support" from a simple-minded animal than you should do this. Frauds deserve to go broke.

Adopt a therapy dog? Therapy dogs are dogs that go out to nursing homes, hospitals, etc and are trained and then taken to be tested by their OWNERS. NO ONE is selling "therapy dogs". My Newf is a TDI Therapy Dog with over 100 visits logged.

Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are MUTTS - there's no such breed. That's also bullshit that ANY breeder sells a puppy that's already housebroken unless they're keeping the puppies till they're 4 to 6 months old.

Don't be an IDIOT. Don't buy a mutt from a backyard breeder with such idiotic false promises. If you want a mutt go adopt one from a shelter. If you don't have the time or desire to train a puppy then adopt an adult, already well behaved dog.

And FYI adoption is from a SHELTER. You BUY from a backyard breeder.

edit: OMG! These f*****'s mutt puppies START at around $2,300.00. The puppies are NOT trained before sold. They sell them at 8 weeks with "beginning crate-training" which means NOTHING. The "training" you pay extra for for NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS for three months. WTF??? Do idiots really pay for this????? I also can't believe the page tab at the top has the words "Ethical breeding". There's NOTHING ethical about breeding MUTTS for money and SEVERELY ripping people off!!! Wow. I can't believe you would even CONSIDER this shitty backyard breeder. How stupid are you????

Jane Austen would be SO pissed these scumbags are bastardizing her name and putting quotes of hers on their website.

Nope, sounds like a scam. Puppies don''t come trained, some older dogs may come with very little training, but if no one continues to enforce that training and fails to provide sufficient daily minimal walk/elimination times outside, every 3-4 hours you will come home to a houseful of crap.

If pets aren't allowed where you live you can't get one, period. A therapy dog is nothing more than a pet, and you would be purchasing it, as well as be training it for to visit nursing homes, if invited by the establishment and must pass a good citizen test.

If you work such long hours, you won't have the time to train it or have it tested or take it to nursing homes/hospices, etc.

Neither of these dogs are a breed either, just more poorly bred mixes, that maybe genetically deficient, resulting poor temperament, requiring an experienced/knowledgeable owner to handle it, which obviously you don't appear to be one....

Sounds like a highly overpriced puppy farm.

"I want to adopt a therapy dog but I work long hours, I came across a website named Pride and Prejudoodles stating that they train dogs labradoodles and goldendoodles

its a LIE. Its a BYBEr or mill selling worthless ill bred mutts that will not be trained or anything. doodle mutts have horrible temperaments and cna't be used for therapy work at all and have night mare inducing coats that pretty much no groomer will touch and is difficult to keep brushed.

You don't adopt from them. You buy an ill bred worhtless untrained mutt form them then throw it away since its nto only untrained, it has all the issues dodles mutts have, including aggression.

Only BYBers & Puppy Mills put ads online, in newspapers, Craig's list, etc.

I would not buy from them to add money to their pockets. You don't just buy a Therapy Dog, it has to have special training to be a therapy dog. A Therapy Dog is a dog that you take to hospitals & nursing homes. It is not an ESA or a Service Dog. Although they can be trained to be either. An ESA does not need any training to be a pet. But a Service dog takes yrs & yrs to train.

If you want this X breed, mutt, you might as well get it from them as any where else.

1. A "house trained" puppy is still a puppy. It will still need to go out every 1-2 hours to start with and will still need consistent reinforcement of that training. If you work long hours, you are not a suitable home for a puppy (and probably not for any dog, depending on what "long hours" means to you).

2. No one reputable produces "doodles" or other designer mutts. They have no breed standard, little consistency, and no advantages over existing purebred options. Most puppies produced from the cross are not good for allergy sufferers. Most have inconsistent coats that are a nightmare to maintain (local grooming parlors in my area have instituted a hefty "doodle" surcharge). No mutt should be sold for more than a shelter adoption fee, and they certainly aren't worth thousands.

3. Do you know what qualifications someone needs to call themselves a "dog trainer"? None.

4. Therapy dogs are those extensively screened by an organization and insured to visit places like hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. They do require an extensive investment of time, socialization, and training to get them to that point. If you're looking for a "pre-trained" puppy, it's unlikely you have the knowledge, skill set, or patience to get a dog to the point they would pass the rigorous screening tests to do this sort of work.

Seems they are selling 8 week old puppies for $2300 - $2800. Those puppies aren't trained. If you want three month of training you are paying an extra $9 900.

Do you really want to pay over $12 000 for a dog?

Are you living close enough so you can pick the dog up?

What do you expect to do the dog for you? They don't train service dogs BTW.

Where do you expect the dog to go to the bathroom when you aren't at home?

It doesn't really sound like a dog would be a good pet for you. Why do you think you want a dog if you aren't at home much?

Generally a therapy dog is a dog you take to hospitals etc, not one which might or might not be calming for you. It sounds you might be looking for an emotional support dog. What I don't like about the website is that they give you an official ESD-dog vest, government-recognized registration certificate, ID cards and ID tag when non of that is government recognized.

If you are seriously interested and seriously interested in paying that much money for a dog, then visit them. Repeatedly, and make sure you meet some of the dogs they trained and also inform yourself from other sources.

Do you quality for a therapy dog?

If you do, go through your doctor or mental health professional's office to get one.
