List:

leash (6foot works great)

collar or harness of your choice

ID tag with your name and phone number (smallest you can find)

dog nail clippers

grooming brush

finger-dog-toothbrush

carrying case/carrier for the vet (i like the soft-airline ones)

dog urine cleaner (accidents will happen)

good quality dog food

a few dog treats (use sparingly)

a wire kennel/enclosure (the ones that are just wire walls that can be moved around work great)

chew toys (lots)

food dish, water dish

dog beds (2 ish)

a book about dog training :)

Good luck with your pup. Some pointers on the training:

Don't rub his nose in messes, just try to catch him in the middle of his business, (or before if you're lucky) and pick him right up in the middle of his peeing, and take him outside to where you want him to go. Praise if he finishes outside. Repeat as necessary

Even in a small dog, good leash manners are really important. never let him try to drag you anywhere. you're the boss of the walk, if he pulls, stop walking, every time.

Lots of exercise, never let your dog get fat.

Sometimes love for your dog should be in the form of rules and structure.. rules don't mean you can't love your dog to pieces, but it means he knows how the house works, what he's supposed to do in every situation, and who the boss is. If he knows these things, he'll never have to worry.

Lots of others, good luck with your pup!

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://tr.im/rn8fI

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

Why would their be mean answers?! Anyone congrats on your dog, as far as house training, try to crate train her while your not home. The crate keeps them safe, and they do not like to go potty where they sleep, its uncomfortable, and they will learn to hold it. And with sitting you gotta keep on keeping on. Repitition is the key! dont give up! And thats for anythign you want to train him. You can get a book how how to train your puppy at a petsmart or anyplace liek that! even Barnes and Nobles When you see her urinateing or pooping in the house say no! while in the process, and bring her to where you want to her to go. But you reeally do need to catch her in the act or its pointless. Socialization is also a big part of a puppy, and chihuahuas can be very skittish dogs, so introduce her to alot of things, get her familiar with them.

Soo00ooo0o a good list of things would be

obv. water and food bowl.

TONS of chew toys, cause you wll constantly be redirecting.

collar

leash

crate

identification tag

clippers

toothbrush

shampoo

Make sure all electrical cords are covered and also make sure that all plants, especially poisonous ones, are taken up off the floor. Chihuahua puppies are very curious creatures and will love to chew on anything they can. Instead, make sure that you place small chew toys all throughout the house so that your Chihuahua puppy has much to do. If you don’t, your puppy can become nervous, anxious or bored, which spells nothing but trouble for your nice furniture.

and get food from a pet feeds store, some nice healthy holistics!

Good luck!

Tips house training

1. If your sister will be at home with him then walking him every 1/2 hr (since he is so small is good idea). . Take him to same place everytime (cleaning up after ever dump) and praising him with words and treats when he goes.

2.Keep feeding time on schedule.

3.Don't let him wander out of sight

4.Not at home, get a crate, bigger than him so he is comfortable. Just bedding and toys---no food/water. If gone for extended time have someone take care of him

5 Put collar an tag with info on him. If you can afford it have him scan tagged at vet.

6. Be consistant. You and your sis must have same training rules.

7 NEVER NEVER put him in cage as punishment

8 Don't YELL, be Stern. He is tiny don't make him nervous

9 Hurrican Ike???? Don't let him pick us anything outside--keep him close. On a lease, even in your own yard...

10 So close to ground. Towel wash him when you come inside. Pet stores have wipes for dogs, like for babies. They also have bug wipes. Use them and flea/tick control
