Sure, But it's going to coast you! I've never heard about quarantine but my husband said he's heard of countries doing it.

Whoa, it better be worth it.

You can bring dogs over to here, but there is a six month quarantine period- so if you're only planning to come for a few months or even a year, you might want to consider keeping the dogs with friends back home rather than putting them through a plane journey then a six month wait in a kennel without their owner.

And the UK has such a strict and long waiting time because it is rabies free- we need to be weary of people bringing in animals from countries that aren't rabies free and this is the only way to do so. Obviously, there is other contagious (dog to dog, mainly) diseases dogs can carry that need to be kept an eye on, but it is mainly the big thing of rabies.

It is NOT sixty days, it is six months.

This link is from Defra, and this is the law on bringing animals (cats and dogs, mainly) into the UK.

Basically, six months quarantine MUST be done, but the dog can be exported at any time. So if you get there, it all goes wrong and you decide to go home, you can get your dog exported home without having to wait.

It is also important to note that the time your pet will spend away from you isn't the only factor. It costs money for you to ship the pet in, to transport it, to fill in the paperwork, to actually quarantine it, and also, if it becomes ill whilst in quarantine, the medicine will be at your expense.

I love how I can get thumbs down for posting facts. This is the law in the UK. As annoying as I'm sure it is, these are just facts. =)

Your dog has to have a rabies shot then later has to have a titer count done. Then it has to be quarantined 6 months in your country or in the UK. You have to fill in a ton of paperwork and get a federal vet to sign them after he examines the dog. It is expensive enough for one dog.

you can take them with you, but it will take them a while to get used to things. I have to say that it's not good to move animals, especially when they've grown up and lived in one place. People have moved animals with them to other countries, but they may become homesick or even depressed. Just keep a whether eye out.

There is no way on gods green earth I would allow my dog to stay away from me -in quarintine- for 6 months. Maybe you should pick somewhere else to move perhaps france.

to bring dogs to England, they used to have to be quarantined for 6 months to make sure they are healthy. I've heard they changed this. you should google it to see current laws.

you have to pay a lot to bring them on the plane, and then when you get there they have to stay somewhere for a few months. i can't remember why, but thats what someone told me.
