why do so many people give pit bulls a bad name?

the other day i asked a question and i got an answer i really did not like and it was on a pit people see pit bulls as a "BAD DOG" well they are NOT BAD DOGS its the people who train them so if your afraid of a dog bitting off your finger and think it should be put down then pretty much what your saying is every dog that bites somebody should be put down??? so if a chihuahua bites you and sends you to the ER you are going to put it down?

because the people attracted to owning pit bulls tend to be ignorant and in a lower socioeconomic class ... they have adopted this type of dog to help them feel tough ... the barely educated fools breed these types of dogs to the point the breed is ruined ... they used to be dogs with dog on dog aggression accepted and now with over-breeding human aggression is becoming more and more the norm ... i live in a nice neighbourhood, no pit bulls around here ... but i constantly see posted where people live in bad neighbourhoods and have the dogs to protect them ... and could you please post your sources of the chihuahuas sending people to the ER ... i could google pit bull attacks and i would be reading forever ... chihuahuas may be snappy but it is not going to send a person to the ER ... and the people in denial about the reality of this kind of dog are not helping they are hurting the dogs ... comparing a chihuahua bite to a pit bull bite is the lack of IQ i am referring to ...

i do not have to give pit bulls a bad name, they have done it all on their own ... eradicate now ...

Well obviously a Pit Bull bite can do a heck of a lot more damage than a Chihuahua bite, but I see your point.



Most people who have never known a Pit, only knows of them what they hear in the media and the media LOVES a good, dramatic story. The gorier, the better.



Anyone who has had the pleasure of owning a sweet, well balanced Pit, knows they can be the best family dogs in the world. They can win your heart over instantly.



Sadly, Pits are in high demand by thugs and scuzbuckets, because they CAN be trained to be aggressive. In the end, it's the poor dog who suffers.



Can't we just euthanize bad owners? LOL

Over breeding undesirable genetics undesirable vendors Media progoganda each and every 'propose looking' canine is labelled a 'pit bull' the term pit bull is a term to hide numerous breed of canines. no longer basically the yankee pit bull terrier. My neighbour has 5 APBT's all properly behaved and don't combat. The eldest male is each and every each and every now and then grumpy yet he's 15 and has arthritis. people who get an apbt (it is the canine all of us thinks of once you're saying 'pit bull' or the different style of bully breed) do no longer understand those canines desires a job, they are not exercised sufficient and prefer another canine, they might strengthen behaviour subject concerns. no longer getting a domestic dog from a great breeder would not precisely supply the domestic dog the perfect danger the two. The media objectives this team of canines, they have finished it earlier with the GSD's, dobermans, rotties. human beings ought to end blaming only the owner, however the 'breeder' who produced the doggies.

i agree why do people talk so much about pit bulls sure there are bad ones but there are also a lot more good ones. i used to have one but we had to get rid of it because we didn't have too much space for a dog loved it tho never bit no one. it was the most friendly dog ever. now we got some little chihuahua and that thing is very unfriendly it would bite you just for trying to pet it. when i have younger cousins come over i have to make sure they don't get near it. my pit bull i used to have few were scared but once you would pet it you know its a friendly dog and its just sad people do hate pit bulls when really they are good dogs.

because the media only cosentrates on one part of wat they were bred for

they never include the facts about ranchers back then leaving thier children home along with the pits or how ranchers never killed the dog if it lost a fight

instead the rancher would mend the dog or throw in the towel

infact less than 2% of bites are from true pits even mixed pits

theye also pass temperment test with flying colors above any other breed

if taken in stray pits that have been abused and they have never shown any fear of humans infact they willingly came to me and got along with my american bulldog and my lil cousins that i take care of

the worst one was scared a lil bit and barked a bit but once i gave her some food and played ball with her she was fine

even dobermans were targetedbefore the pit

People talk about them badly because they have a "bad" reputation. It isnt the dogs fault. They were bred down to be fighting dogs and that is the reason they can be aggressive if not tamed. Pit bulls are banned in my town because of several attacks.

OK, you had a couple questions in there . I agree with YOU. there are no bad dogs just owners!! But its against the law to just kill the owner. but i agree wit you, on that, and on the cjihuaua question , i suppose , if he actually was such a fierce little guy, and the owner was such a bad one , well it would be fair for him to get the axe , just as the pit bull would .

We just need to take good care of each other and our animals there is enough love and food and happiness to go around to all and them some . It is a sad world to have people train there animals to kill and then , in turn they get killed ..reminds me of a LOT of things ...how bout you?

The people who breed the dogs with crappy temperaments are the people who give the APBT a bad name. If people are really serious about saving the breed, than they would support a cull on all badly bred ones, and starting out fresh. It's NOT all how a dog is raised.

Because most people see/read/hear the news about a pit bull mauling children. They are known to be bred for their vicious tendencies. We had another case in our area in the past 4 months where a pit bull killed a toddler. The pit bull got loose from the owner's back yard where it had been kept and chained. It wasn't a labrador or a poodle, it WAS a pit bull. Rightly or wrongly, most people don't want to be around a pit bull because of their reputation. And, yes the chihuahua would also have to be put down.

This is so true. There are no such thiing as a bad dog, people make bad dogs or they breed them poorly and they are mean. People are ignorant and stupid. As an owner of a beautiful red nose pittie named Ruby, i can say they are the most gentle family oriented dog ever.
